87 | James McAtee - 2024/25

Seriously I cannot see any of the young crop of players on view tonight being anything other than bit part players .

You should probably say that about every kid coming through our academy, because they have to be ridiculously good to make it in our team.

However, I still feel it's a harsh comment and too early to say for most of these. I thought they all did pretty well against a top half PL side.

After a quite first half hour O'Reilly grew into the game and didn't look out of place. Best I've seen from him.

Wright can clearly play. I think he was further forward than I've seen him before, so maybe not quite his best role, but did ok.

Simpson-Pusey looked calm and assured. He played like somebody we'd bought even! Be interesting to see him again and see him having to do a bit more defending, but very promising.

Can’t Pep give him a shot in the wide areas where he can get on the ball more and build some confidence? As he did with Foden and Palmer before him, and more recently Nunes.

Especially given the injuries we’ve got currently.

Looks a bit lost all the time he plays, needs to step up and show a better body language, otherwise im pretty sure he will get a loan next year and will not be seen in our side. I think its not a quality thing, more of a confidence thing like Pep said that he needs to realise he is a squad Player who needs to step up if you want to have a Future here and help

I love McAtee, but thought he was pretty quiet last night. Shame, as it was a good opportunity for him, but the other academy lads probably impressed more.

Played a big part in the goal, his run across the fullback dragged him into the middle of the box and left the back post empty for Nunes.

Yes, that was good but overall I thought he could've done more. Guess it's difficult to get up to speed when you're not getting regular minutes.
