My issue is always the lack of opportunities though - those were McAtee’s first minutes in a month. And he might easily not play again for another month. It’s virtually impossible to play once a month (usually out of position) and impress. It was the same with Palmer two seasons ago and Bobb last season. And yet the likes of Doku and Savinho both went straight into the team as soon as we signed them and have played numerous matches in their preferred position. It’s frustrating that Pep treats academy players different to players we’ve signed, even when Bobb and Palmer are arguably better players than Doku and Savinho.
No arguably better about it, Bobb and Palmer are better than Doku & Savinho

Every time iv seen mcatee he's not impressed. I don't doubt there's a good player in there obviously but he just needs some luck, or something good to come off, get some confidence in his game, then we will see how good he can be.

Heavily linked to Palace now, thought Fulham would suit him better tbh.

January departure feels very likely now. Pep was very bullish about keeping him in summer, but he’s given him less of a chance than Sergio Gomez ultimately. I don’t think mcatee has impressed massively in his appearances but neither has anyone else this year , could have got more of a shot

It will be his day to day work with the team that will determine his worth. If Pep doesn’t see his worth every day in training, then he will be gone.

My fear is that we are signing players who aren’t as good as our academy players. Some of these young players aren’t ready immediately, but they have more potential. Palmer and bobb are much better players then say Doku.

We’re going to end up with players like palmer, Delap, rogers and THB being the best players in the league and not playing for us, which is a huge missed opportunity.

We seem to sign up clubs in greater numbers than actual players, there's a bigger plan here that doesn't include us I fear.

No surprise McAtee was nervous when he came on. Not easy for him to try and impress when team morale is low. To keep in Pep's plans he needs to come and be a game changer like score a dying seconds(like Bobb) winner or even an assist. Young James will have to be patient when he next gets a chance but he must play well for any chance of getting regular footbal.
I see you are making excuses for him and I agree with you.
Sometimes, I just wish fans would protect other players in similar fashion instead of the constant put downs.

Bobb would have played more than Doku Savinho this year if it wasn’t for his injury, I think that was obvious to see.

Either way, you’re comparing completely different players. Doku and Savinho are out and out wingers.

Bobb is more of a Bernardo, Palmer more of a KDB. Would you compare those two to Sterling or Sane?

You’re mixing up the competition. Besides, Palmer never looked good on the wing for us anyway.

Fair comments, imo, neither Doku or Savinho are good enough but we'll see.

He needs to put in a transfer request.

What the hell is Savinho telling us that he couldn't bar some pace on the right wing?

What is Gundo/Bernardo giving us in the middle that he couldn't?

Nothing. We didn't pay him a fee, so Pep knows he can get away with much more.

Must be getting very good at Sudoku.
Maybe he should bring one of those learn a foreign language instructions on his phone, next time he spends 90 minutes on the bench.
Could take up knitting, like that diver Tom Daley did

I hope he goes on loan in January and smashes it somewhere. He’s at the stage of his career when he needs to be playing regularly, not 2 minutes of league football in 4 months.

He was miles better than Morgan Rogers when they both played for the EDS, and was arguably as good as Palmer and Bobb too. All three of them have surpassed him now so he has a lot of catching up to do.

Not on loan, a permanent move. We are just fucking this lad over for no clear reason.

he needs to be ready for Salford City in the FA cup 11th of January. thats about more than a months from now so he needs to make sure he is performing top level in trainings otherwise he wont be able to play that game either.
