How does begging for scraps constitute overrating? Why do our fanbase overrate McAtee so much?

And then you go on to ask why people are “fawning” over McAtee? What a stupid choice of wording but how revealing of your comprehension skills. Little wonder you get lambasted.Silly comment. There's way too much attacking posters here if they have the temerity to not blindly agree such and such player is the best because they play for City. It's a forum for discussion and people have differing opinions shouldn't be lambasted for them.
Looks like he's off then
Sounds like Pep may let him go. Not a ringing endorsement for him.And then you go on to ask why people are “fawning” over McAtee? What a stupid choice of wording but how revealing of your comprehension skills. Little wonder you get lambasted.
Well I won’t be taking lessons off you.Sounds like Pep may let him go. Not a ringing endorsement for him.
You may need to learn the game a little better.
Such a shame. I presume Salford was a shop window type of game and it won’t have done him any harm.
Will be gutted if it doesn’t work out but seems that’s the most likely scenario now. Bobb to take his place but with more game time I take it.
I’m not mate . He should stay with us as it’s clear he has talent and we will 100 percent regret this one and it will also have a negative effect on all our young kids watching and wondering why we sell them all . We are better than this .I'm torn on this one.
As you say though, it was perhaps a shop window and won't have done him much harm. Potentially other clubs would see the highlights and like what they saw, but I'd expect Pep would be looking at James's first half performance more and making any decisions based on that.
First half he was invisible. A start against a lower division team and Pep would have wanted him to impose himself in the game, but he disappeared. I remember thinking that happened on a number of occasions at Sheffield also - doesn't mean he's a bad player, but doesn't mean he's good enough to play regularly for the top team in the country either.
He finished his chances well and it was nice to see. However after coming on against Leicester he grabbed the game and made it his - I wanted to see more of that type of performance, but it didn't happen.
McAtee played three positions at the weekend and was most effective when Guardiola put him in his favoured position: scoring three goals. Grealish looked similarly comfortable when back in his familiar beat.I'm torn on this one.

He was playing in a deeper role with Grealish operating ahead of him. We have to remember that the other midfielder was Gundogan, who now lacks physicality and the legs to chase, and that the defence only contained one recognised first-team defender, so it was very much a makeshift team and McAtee had to get back quickly. On that point, he's surprisingly quick and able to get back to cover from one box to the other, much more so than Foden or indeed Lewis. There were a couple of sloppy passes, to be sure, but others were guilty of that as well.Maybe fair - I'm not sure where he was supposed to be playing at the start of the match then? Though he was one of the two forward central midfielders, and that should suit him?

Guardiola chose to give Grealish the forward role and freedom of the park, probably recognising that Salford would be open and that his ability to carry it forward would be more influential. McAtee is cuter around the box, especially when laying off and drifting into space. With Bobb, Foden, and McAtee, we have a wealth of talent and games for all. I just hope I'm not alone in seeing that.At this moment, I dont mind him doing a few sloppy passes, I just want him doing more passes and getting more touches - imposing himself on the game a bit more than he does.
It's a bit more 'strength of personality' to say that he should have the ball and belongs in the team. Though he did that against Leicester, but slipped back a bit against Salford. As you say though, possibly in part due to playing deeper.
If you look at him on 3 things, mobility getting back, ability on the ball and finishing he measures up quite well against most of the others..He was playing in a deeper role with Grealish operating ahead of him.
