People have stopped claiming incapacity benefit instead of having a medical to prove their entitlement. Why could that be?

that is an amazingly huge figure, Im sure the majority were scamming the system for it to be so big and really you cant criticize a government for saving taxpayers money and ending the fiddles.

for genuine claimants who couldnt make the assessment there should be an appeal process so they can be assessed maybe at home.

It makes you wonder what other scams are happening costing a fecking fortune.

I answered this in detail yesterday, cant recall which page but near the start if you are interested

The thing that shocked my most about this thread, is that the UK average wage is 26,500 pound per year.
Fucking hell!

meaningless figure, for many reasons some of which are they do not include the self-employed, part-time work, those who work for relatives, 'sensitive occupations', overtime . The stats take so long to collect they are obsolete before they ready to publish.Even if the figure was right it tells you nothing, the real test of a nations democracy is what percentage of the workforce earns below it. And it isnt 50% as some imagine it could be 95%.

So you are saying it is even less than 26,500? :(

Oh the government going after the disabled and unemployed. Will the mp's stop their own 114 quid a week grocery entitlement? Go after the banks? The super rich? No they'll get the media to tell you the big bad unemployed and disabled are to blame. When really they should be bollocking anyone that approves these benefits for people who are not sick.

tbf though if you work in a benefit office and a builder walks in with a doctors cert saying this builder has a bad back and cant work are you going to argue about it ?

I know a builder here who scams the system with his 'bad back'

he's usually doing the odd cash job though haha

edited for you.
why bill does the truth hurt you ?

The truth doesn't Andy. Anyway as I say in other posts its too broken, the measures now being taken are severe due to decades of weakness and neglect from all governments. I say let's see what happens with a bit of toughness for a change. Hard for some but its all about the bigger picture and 800k Cadgers have been "found out" then that's a good start.
When you read some of the stories on Here its pretty clear we need to reign in the fraudulent money and get it to people that really need it.it has to come from somewhere.

I'd start by pulling out of wars that have fuck all to do with us. Now who started that again?

If you want to tackle the amount of fraudulent claims to benefits, employ more investigators, increase their powers to investigate, increase the sentences handed out by the courts for those found guilty in court (more community service and accountable community service rather than conditional discharges etc), and do the same for tax inspectors.
Stop fraudulent claims for money going out, do likewise to ensure the proper amounts are coming in.

Jesus! How do most people live if that is the "average" wage?
After 33 years it seems like little has changed :(
