Found it very odd he didn’t take penalty. He’s our main striker not scored for a few games he needed a goal.

Also strange Rodri over ruled the captain Gundy. Gundy wanted haaland to take it Rodri wanted Mahrez.

Great penalty from Mahrez however our striker should be taking them end of
Pep said it was the other way around.

How bloody fast is he? Great that he got his assist but I'm with Pep about the penalty - you want your striker especially one that has gone three games without a goal taking that. Great pen that it was from Mahrez it was a bit selfish to demand taking it when you have a designated taker.
Pep should sort it out then.

Haaland was watching the ball the entire time and the keeper clattered straight into him. It should stand as a goal.

It's a contact sport and that was a 50/50 challenge whereby two players collided. Anywhere else on the pitch you'd say the defender fouled Haaland if he was tracking the ball and then taken out. It's another example of goalkeeper's getting extra protection. Haaland didn't foul Martinez, and arguably Martinez didn't foul Haaland. They just clashed going for the ball, so you play on and it's a goal. Not the worst decision this weekend though!

It was good to see Haaland involved in creating a goal. The ball from De Bruyne was awful but the abysmal defending showed just what Haaland does to defenders - they're shitting it. We need to see him involved as much as possible. He's not there just wanting to score, that's his main responsibility but he'll get involved and create if he needs to. Hopefully we keep looking for those balls in behind to stretch the opposition. We certainly played more of them yesterday than usual.

I noticed when Alvarez came on he was also on the shoulder looking for the ball in behind. Villa were quite high, but it was often ignored. It's much easier to create chances when the defence is scrambling to get into position. A huge improvement from previous weeks though. It's a tactic that will work against Arsenal. Brentford played long, committed numbers forwards and Arsenal were all over the place. As they were when Everton went direct.

The ref would have said it was a coming together.

Good attitude from Haaland to be the first one over to Mahrez when he dispatched it. Clearly wasn't bothered.

The media whores will be so disappointed with his reaction - missed a chance to stir the
" Haaland wants out of City " headline.

Needs sorting as it makes us look weak . Haaland should be taking penalties end off

Has literally no one listened to Pep’s answers about what happened?

"Normally Erling is the first taker. I wanted that but Riyad always tries to do it, Rodri was involved. I don't know what happened."

Better to get it resolved now than have a row in a CL game I suppose.

If you watch the disallowed goal, the ref doesn’t immediately blow for a foul, and only blows when he realises Gundogan is going to score the rebound.

Pretty textbook example of a ref taking the easy way out, rather than having to make a ‘controversial’ decision that Sky will show on repeat for days and manufacture some drama out of.

That collision Haaland and the goalie Haaland was offside anyway

Yep, it’s genuinely amateurish at this level.
