Just want to bring this to everyone's attention from @Kippax Street 1880. The last post in the 23/24 thread for Erling. Could prove to be a perfect final post in that thread.

That wasn't actually me but I agree with every word of it anyway!

His all round game looks miles better. His movement, pace and power are all back with a bang and his finishes have been superb, but his link up play has looked miles better as well. Saliba is the one to target on Sunday. Solanke was giving him a tough time in the first half and got him booked. Gabriel is the better physical defender, Saliba has the better positional awareness and movement. So you start on Saliba and then look to spring behind Gabriel. Bookmark this when he scores just like that from a De Bruyne assist.

Huge test for him at the weekend up against Saliba and Gabriel. They dominated him in both games last season.
I hope Pep has a plan for it. Last season it was obvious one of them would challenge Haaland and the other CB would win the second ball, hopefully we'll have the players around him if we go that route.

When we played at the Emirates, without Rodri, Pep was trying to figure out a system following the loss to Wolves. Gvardiol, Ake, Dias, Walker was the back 4 with Rico, Kovacic and Bernie in the middle and Alvarez and Foden wide of Haaland. It was narrow and we didn't have much of a threat.

The home game we weren't fully firing either.

This time around we can mix our options up. I'd imagine Pep favours the ball retention of Grealish and Bernie and allows De Bruyne to get up alongside Haaland. We've also got Gundo to find those pockets next to him. Or we can unleash Doku and Savio and look to stretch them. We're in a lot better shape to get at them. They'll play exactly the way they did against Spurs.

We all love Serg, but Haaland is on another level. There's no shame in saying it.
Yep. To put it into context, he is currently only 17 goals off of Aguero’s best ever PL tally and we’re just 4 games in. He could match Aguero’s best ever (26) by the halfway point, if he scores 17 in his next 15 league games - a perfectly normal scoring rate for Haaland.

He's been superb so far, but I would like more pressing for him. I don't ask him to press against Everton, but against elite competition, if you are not touching the ball, press as hard as you can. The few times he pressed hard, the Inter defenders went long and most often than not we got the ball back immediately.

Other than that, the few actions he was involved he did well.

I think you have to accept you get what you get from this lad i
He scores goals.
I think his link up play has improved this season.
At the end of the day if he does nothing more than score who cares.
It'll only be when he's leaves people realise we have a genuine world star .
Genuine world class striker playing for little old city.
His numbers are ridiculous.
But some games he will do fuck all.
Would you swap him for any player who's playing now or even on he past.
I wouldn't

I think you're right. We're more easily bypassed with him leading the line, but in the grand scheme that's probably a small price to pay for one of the best strikers ever.

We didn't create a really good chance for Haaland all night. It happens, the set up was geared towards more control. Savinho was the only one who created a half chance for him.

Became very quiet after Foden came on. Pep need to think about how to make Haaland and Foden work together. Foden missed a great chance around 68', but honestly that should be Haaland shooting at that position.

9 goals after 5 games and still people moan about him wtf .
A section of our fanbase don't half like a good moan. Look at our apparent need to have a scapegoat down the years. Big Joe's first spell in goal, Edghill, Mahrez, Sterling, last night seemed to be Grealish's turn on here.
