He was better when he got here , he does give a lot to the team, that is true , however he still has a scoring job to do , sergio has been out what feels like a year , he has had plenty of time to fill the striking void

If he was better when he got here, why does he keep scoring more goals every year?

We're targeted an elite striker to be starting week in and week out because we know Jesus cannot. We are absolutely not targeting a deputy. Lukaku, Kane, Haaland etc whoever signs will be our main striker.

And yet he'll still get picked over them for some games, especially big games, where the stuff Pep rates him as the best in the world at counts more, and he'll still score 20 a season.

In fact, given he's the 4th youngest player in the squad, he'll probably keep scoring more goals each season, like he has done each of the last 3 years.

What has he done in the last year ? Adding all the goals together going back four years does not tell the whole story of his up and downs

He is not a main striker and never will be , as someone just said he will not be number one when we replace sergio with a prolific top class goal scorer

In fairness we're going to go in circles.

My only interest is that we win games. I don't care if every single goal comes from Stones scoring from Zinchenko crosses, as long as we win games. Right now we're winning games, rather comfortably, so I'm at ease with a young player returning from coronavirus taking his time to get back on the goal trail and add to his excellent record if we keep this up. Which I believe we can.

You understandably believe the striker above all else is there to score, and as Jesus is not scoring at a high rate it's worth calling into question. We're at an impasse here.

Feel free to. It wouldn't change my opinion. Go back in time to all the match threads we dropped points with Aguero or Dzeko starting and not scoring and quote me there too.
I am not disagreeing with you on what Jesus brings to the team.

Jesus must be judged on his goals otherwise he should not be playing as a number 9. If we can’t rely on his goals play him on the wing and bring in another forward.

He is paid to score goals. Anything else is a bonus but with no Sergio the team needs him to step up.

I don't care if they are afraid of him or not. He scores goals when he starts and we win games with him in the side.
I say what I see, and what I see in most games is a lightweight left winger playing out of position in a league that is too tough for him. Four years on and he's regressed despite all his and Pep's best efforts.

Saying Jesus will still play some games is neither here nor there. The management do not think he is good enough to be the long term replacement of Aguero. They are not buying a deputy or a substitute. They are buying a top striker that we can rely on not only to score goals, but score at a rate that is befitting of a top striker. Missing 21 big chances, underperforming your xG by 16 since you've been here is NOT good enough to be a starter for a top team. You can try to blankly analyse him with no context and argue he's performing an elite level for a goalscorer, but he isn't.

In the last year, off the top of my head he almost single handedly put us through against Madrid, scored the opening goal in a cup quarter final, got us a draw against Liverpool, got a late winner vs Leicester, scored his second Champions League hattrick.

So what?

If Jesus is still our second striker who scores 20 a season and wins us big games in the CL, why do people think that's bad?

You might as well spend all day complaining that Gundogan and Bernardo are not Kevin De Bruyne. Who gives a fuck, they're still integral members of the squad.

No. He is paid to play for Manchester City, and his role is to help us win games. As I said, I don't care if we win every game thanks to a Stones goal from a Zinchenko cross, as long as we win.

I care about winning. I don't care who does what to get us there. You do. That's fine. I don't.

Almost single handedly ? He played very well but come on

You never answer off the top of your head
