93:20, Yaya's semi-final goal vs Utd or Yaya's FA Cup winner?

Which was the more pivotal goal?

If Ya Ya hadn't scored that goal someone else would, whether in the 90 or in extra time. even if we'd lost it wouldn't have affected the club's future and would be forgotten about now. Sergio's goal became part of the history of the club, one of our biggest moments.

I'll also argue until I'm blue in the face that without it, Pep would have come that summer and we would now have several Champions Leagues under our belt. So its 93-20 all the way for me.
You can't say that mate as it ended 1-0. And Pep has nothing to do with it as he arrived almost 5 years later.

Almost all blues supporting us in 2012 know the significance of Aguero's 93:20 PL winning goal, even many opposition fans know its significance.

But hardly anyone, blue or other will instantly recognise the significance of Yaya's net smashing 73:48 minute cup winner the season before in 2011.

Which has got me thinking. Was Yaya's cup winning goal more important a goal than Aguero's league winning goal considering we hadn't won a proper trophy since winning the league cup in 76.

I think it(Yaya's) was.

What do you think?

*Mods. Can we have a poll please?
I think Yaya‘s 50th minute goal in the semi final was more important than the final goal. It was the game that started to shift the football side towards us, no doubt, but it was, I think, the game when us fans realised it wasn’t going to be a flash in the pan and we were really going to compete with them season after season. Little did we know that wouldn’t be true, but not for the reasons we might have imagined, given our gloriously glum outlook on the world of football..

I can say that. We were totally dominant and miles better than them. We'd have won the game at some point. It ended 1-0 because once you've scored you ease up.

Pep has something to do with it. The club later admitted they were in discussions with him in the spring of 2012. If Sergio hadn't scored Mancini would have been sacked and Pep would have come to us. That's my belief.

Good post.

Yaya's semi goal was the catalyst to overtaking United, not only in Manchester but in England as the top club. I wouldn't be surprised if Ferguson decided to retire a couple seasons later because he knew the writing was on the wall at United. He left that squad in a dilapidated state and it's almost 10 seasons since they last won the league.

And as for them winning the league this season many giddy rags really believe they would at one stage. Lol.

Yaya's goal was no more significant than, say Neil Young's goal in '69, but were NUFC ever beating us in the 3-4 at St. James's in '68?

The Kun goal has so many layers - losing to a relegation threatened side at home, playing against ten men, time running out by the bucketful, Rags already finished and the RDAHMeedya crowning them champions! And then GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! I have the South American commentary of the goal on my phone as a constant reminder (invariably goes off when I'm walking up the aisle of foreign cathedral!)

I tend to agree with this, beating the rags was so important as it laid so many issues to bed, think they were still on for the treble at that point too, in fact, I still remember arguing with rags that they weren’t gutted about losing that game because they were out of the FA cup (and no treble), but more that it was about stopping us winning anything, because they knew what a springboard that would be for us, as it proved to be.
