93:20, Yaya's semi-final goal vs Utd or Yaya's FA Cup winner?

Which was the more pivotal goal?

How about Yaya against the rags or yaya vs Stoke
The one v Rags at Wembley meant more to me than the one in the Final itself, although the latter gave us that first Trophy …. I’ll never forget how the former made me feel, probably better than 93.20 or at least on par.

Almost all blues supporting us in 2012 know the significance of Aguero's 93:20 PL winning goal, even many opposition fans know its significance.

But hardly anyone, blue or other will instantly recognise the significance of Yaya's net smashing 73:48 minute cup winner the season before in 2011.

Which has got me thinking. Was Yaya's cup winning goal more important a goal than Aguero's league winning goal considering we hadn't won a proper trophy since winning the league cup in 76.

I think it(Yaya's) was.

What do you think?

*Mods. Can we have a poll please?

Yaya's goal to win us the cup was the biggest goal at the time. It ended the drought and brought back success after such a long period of despair. We needed to win something and we finally did. It was a staggering moment, one I had dreamt about for years - the first success of my lifetime. But the next season what Aguero did trumped it so we can now look back and say his goal was far more important. I don't think winning the FA Cup made a huge difference to us winning the league. The league is a different beast. Why haven't we won the CL? It's not because we aren't a great side. It's simply that we haven't managed to have the combination of quality, experience and luck that are needed. Although as I write that those memories of Pep's lineup come flooding back - the real reason we haven't won it as we'd nailed it up to that point! But maybe his experience was missing at that stage and he felt the pressure and over thought it, where he will get it right next time.

We would have won the FA Cup that day regardless of if Yaya scored or not, someone else would have put the ball in the back of the net.

Did it mean a lot - fuck yes! But Sergios was special, still today I can’t watch that moment without tears!

Aguero's goal. Although I do remember looking over at my Dad to see a tear in his eye when we lifted the FA Cup in 2011. He'd endured the 34 years prior to that, so the release of emotion in him, a dyed in the wool blue, must have been overwhelming. I could see why some would of the older generation would say the Yaya goal.

But Aguero's was, undisputedly, the more important goal.

How far do you want to go back? I would suggest Dickovs equaliser in the playoff game was more significant as if we had failed to go up, there was every chance we would have never come back up.

Serious rumours abounded that we might have gone into liquidation.

I think Yaya‘s 50th minute goal in the semi final was more important than the final goal. It was the game that started to shift the football side towards us, no doubt, but it was, I think, the game when us fans realised it wasn’t going to be a flash in the pan and we were really going to compete with them season after season. Little did we know that wouldn’t be true, but not for the reasons we might have imagined, given our gloriously glum outlook on the world of football..
I agree about the semi final goal as pivotal in the shift of footballing power in our city. I also agree about the significance of finally winning our first trophy in my memorisable lifetime (I was 39 in 2011). 93:20 was significant in many ways : it proved we were the best in the country, it showed we had the mentality to dig deep and win from a desperate situation and finally it shattered our “typical city” tag. To pick which is more important is like picking your favourite child - you love all 3 and you shouldn’t place one above the other (but sometimes you do! So, on a personal level I’m going for the FA Cup trophy!)

Not sure about the most important. Not totally sure what that even means. But for the buzz of how it felt at the time, the QPR game by an absolute mile for me.

Even though it meant that first trophy in years, the Cup Final kind of felt like a more modern City game, where the prospect of defeat was a disaster and a win was expected and a bit of after the Lord Mayor’s show compared to the semi. More relief than euphoria.

Whereas It’s hard to even imagine a more dramatic scenario than the QPR game. Let alone witness one.

Probably the only thing that could ever top it would be if we were actually playing United in the last game and scored those two late goals to overtake them and win it.
