A big "well done" to the Met

My daughter had her phone nicked by these scumbags whilst she was carrying her baby son in a sling. She and baby got pushed into some bushes and the shitehawks made off with her phone. I'd let the police run the fuckers over so that they couldn't walk too well, let alone ride a scooter. They are the scum of the country, blighting the lives of people. They need their lives blighting, More power to the cops' car bumpers!

I thought as much. Grasping a straws a little bit there for a simple typo don't you think mate?

Oh and it's 'weigh up' not "weigh in", it didn't take you long to self own did it? I enjoyed that too. ;)

Edit: Point taken though, I like you chose a really bad time to make one. :)

I like you.

So the police need permission from the police? Not quite the same as you were appearing to suggest when you said ‘the police need permission’. Perhaps you should make what you’re saying clearer in future, as it would avoid any confusion about the point you are seeking to advance.

I would add, that approach seems perfectly sensible to me.

That is where the problem arises who would authorise a pursuit ? The police become risk adverse because the person they chase has the potential to kill somebody, the police in the pursuit then get investigated by the complaints department and then the IPOC a coroners court then there is a possibility of criminal charges a court hearing ( death by dangerous) via the CPS and nobody cares what the criminal was doing in the first place it's suddenly down to the police this process takes years
Google Alan long tragically died in a pursuit in Ashton about 10 years ago
The cycle then begins
What are the police doing ? Why don't they chase people ? The papers report the angle of blaming the police not the scote in the car or scooter etc etc
So if you are a cop you just don't chase someone I guess or if you are asked to authorise a pursuit or ramming you say NO

I appreciate this, but surely you know better than anyone, with your previous experience, you know the Police don't always abide by these laws they're "governed" by?
And who decides what's proportionate force is the issue. Guy nicks a phone on a moped, is it proportionate to knock him off that bike at 30mph? Could genuinely kill them

Edit- also I said they could get it wrong and knock an innocent person off. I mean they shot an innocent man to death so it ain't out of the question!

Killing a thief would be an added bonus. They have the option to stop and go to court to defend themselves. This country has been far too soft on crime for too long.

When it comes to policing I'd happily allow them to operate a period of zero tolerance and give them the funding they required.

When I was growing we were taught to respect them. Nowadays they have support from public nor government.

If you're in a pursuit with the police, you're not innocent, you're failing to stop. You may not have done anything else, but you are a huge risk to others by that one action. Any lump of metal, two or four wheels, being driven away from the police at speed has the potential to damage innocents and should be stopped.

All traffic cars have cameras and the evidence will be there for all to see. Better to knock a scrote off a bike than have them speed around a corner and crash into a completely innocent member of the public.

I'm glad the police are making evident that if you don't stop you'll be knocked off. I wish we could do the same so easily for car drivers.
