Has to be #2 or #5 for me, with the edge going to #5.

Think the concept falls right in line with the CFG branding, contains both City history and tradition, has a little color to help it "pop" and that color helps establish what our second (Away) colors should be.

That said, it appears the owners have gone all in on the eagle and stars(!), especially given its roots in their own culture and flag!

As an aside, while I realize the badge location is just so you can get all the "emblems" in the pic, I think it would be an even better comparison if the badge was in the higher chest/shoulder location it is found.

Take a look at the front view (left side of page) of the seriously good looking Adidas NYCFC product below. (don't know how to capture that pic and insert!)

Indeed. I was merely noting that the badge on the NYCFC shirt is placed further out, which I think HELPS the badge.

Tin hat time. But as much as I loved the old badge the club have spent so much time and effort these last few years trying to get City known across the globe I sincerely doubt they are going to change the badge now for the sake of a few tradition lovers.

While I agree, and see that the badge reflects their own emblem, GeekinGav's designs fit mare more closely to the CFG branding being done. In addition, I don't think City are readily identified by the badge as much as they are by the color (sky blue), the name (Manchester...thanks United!), and the fact that we have some world class players who keep winning the Premier League.

In actuality, it might be an excellent PR move for the entire brand if, maybe at the end of next season, the City owners decided that they were going to "rebrand" the City badge to reflect the global ownership of City Football Group. It would be a capstone event on the branding of CFG.....unless, of course, there are still more teams to be added to the CFG portfolio? Maybe a top Chinese team? Indonesia? Africa?

I think, just as the NYCFC and MCFC (Oz) badges are so similar as to be reflective of a common branding philosophy, so the club at the apex of that business (Man City), should reflect it also....or maybe it is separate and distinct to reflect its apex position? Hard to get inside Mansour's head, so I guess I'll never know!

Maybe we need a competition every season for the next season' skit and a competition next year for the "new and improved" City badge to reflect its status within CFG?

I agree with all of that.

A rebranding drive could actually create more interest.

Also, round discs can't just be made and stitched into the shirt, without silly shields around them.
