Not sure why City would make Balotelli a smokescreen; especially as reports suggest City have made a bid for him: that does not seem like to way to be taken seriously within football. Making inquiries about players and not following up is one thing, but making bids with no intention of buying is quite another and it's not the way a club that wants to be viewed as having class should behave. So if the clue is related to Mario, I hope attempts to sign him are for real.

So where we were splashing wodges of cash on Bridge, Lescott, Barry, RSC we are now paying less or similar amounts for Kolarov, Boateng, Silva, Milner.

There in a nutshell is why Hughes was bad for City and Mancini is the man we need.
