For the hundredth time in the last year:
It is a european golden eagle, which was adopted by Rome, and it appears on the badge because of the XX Legion that had elements garrisoned at Castlefields. I mean, you think I'm making this up, or just not reading the thread?

Nicky D said:I'm pretty sure it's meant to be an eagle. But either way, it looks identical to the one worn by the rags in the 1958 FA Cup Final - think Gary James said it was the Manchester COA for a brief period?
As much as I like the current badge, why oh why did they go for the ornamental star look? Seems strange, when every aspect of a club badge is usually loaded with symbolism.
Bees instead of stars!!

Who owns the image rights to our old badge? I had heard it was in someway owned by the Swales family. I'm pretty sure that I have read or been told that we are trying to buy back the image rights, but it is apparently either difficult or complicated to do. (either that or the current image rights owners don't want to sell?????).
To be honest though, I couldn't care less what badge we wear, City will always be City regardless of badges.
