A proper discussion...what made you support city?

as a child my dad was brought up in a non football family. He tells me he started watching City because everyone liked United around his area (Moston) So he wanted to be different. His 1st City match was the final at Wembley against Newcastle.

In more recent years, he brought me up to support the team from my local area (Rochdale) as he stopped going to city as he couldnt afford it.
Hes always brought me up with the idea that city is my 2nd team, but one day i decided i wanted to go to a city match and i havnt looked back since!

Me old man. Suppose I've always done things abit differently, most rags I know are plain and simply boring twats.

In chronological order:

1. Lack of Premier League teams in Sweden.
2. Sven
3. Bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk - yes, you people!
4. Everything else about the club, and now I'm stuck.

And I love it!

Reasons I love Sweden (In chronological order)

1. Lack of fit birds in England
2. Sven
3. Grevious amounts of incredibly fit birds in Sweden

My Dad was never particularly into football, but if he favoured any team it would probably have been the Rags.

Thankfully my Uncle was a die-hard Blue, and he was always on at me about City - telling me about the history of the club, some of the games he'd been to and some of the players he'd seen pull on the shirt - both his daughters are proper City fans, but he never had a son and I guess he saw it as his duty to educate me. Whatever his reasons, I fell in love with the Club and never looked back - I feel like City is my Club, and I always end up trying to enlighten those who aren't really into football as to the rollercoaster ride that is being a City fan, in the hope that I'll get to them in the same the way my Uncle got to me

Born in '81 in Hannover, Germany. My dad was in the army. Came back to England and went to school. About '86 I remember all the kids getting together and seeing who they were going to support. The main of it being Spuds and Rags.
I went home and asked my old man who I should choose. He said seeing as I was born in another country, I could choose whoever I wanted. He had been a Chelsea fan, but never really cared for football in general. My uncle was a big rag who had played professionally until a knee injury and he gave me a hand me down rag shirt after hearing about my dilema, as did some Scouser who my dad worked with giving me the old 'candy' shirt.
What made the decision for me was my dad was a van driver who regularly did rounds up to Manchester and I fell in love with the place and his mancunian customers in general who kinda had me as a mascot whenever I stopped by and would give me Mars bars and whatnot. I decided I'd be a RAG!
I didn't know who City were and dad took me to the swamp to get me a new shirt for my birthday. I wore it in the van that day and every stop there'd be dad's regulars asking him wtf was going on with the shirt! It was the summer holidays and the next day I went with my old man and they'd had a whip round and bought me a City one! I wore that Rag shirt for one day and dad took it back a few days later and got his money back.
I f**king love those fellas! I wish I knew who they were now so I could have a beer with them!

*shivers* I could have been one of those vile creatures!

started watching premier league when i started highschool, wanted a team to support and my dad told me about this crazy club who just got promoted and had been smashing records in the championship, had just brought nicolas anelka and had kevin keegan for a manager, after watching a few games i loved the way we played so i decided to follow city
I'm from NZ which is why i didn't know much about clubs that weren't in the premier league

I am 59 years old and I have had City in my heart from being about nine or ten years of age I think it was because my father was a twat to me he was a rag, I went to my first City match when I was about twelve and got there whenever I could make it till I left school and then I could afford to go every time we were at home. At school the so called cock of the class would walk round with his mates looking for City boys and they would thump you till you were forced to say MU (full name) I hate the name even now.

My dad was a rag as I said and he never liked City he was even more hateful to City when they won the league in 1967/68 season, the rags went and won the European Cup and did I know it.
The thumping’s I got at school made me even more determined to support our blue shirted heroes. Over the years my support for City be it physical or in heart and mind has never ever lapsed.

I think today’s kids are a bit fickle not all of them but a mate of mine supports Oldham Athletic about three years ago he bought his lad the latest Oldham shirt his lad said to him dad can I have a MU shirt his dad asked why he said all my mates have got one.

I think that is it with the rags a fashion like the latest bling.

Mine is simple!! I was born in to a family of reds, no blues anywhere to be seen!! On my third birthday my mum bought me a RAG kit and photographed me in it several times on the day; each time I was in tears!! The next day she felt sorry and bought me a City kit, and in ecah photograph I was smiling!! Blue since then!!

Can only put it down to my rebelious nature!! Lol

is loving Oasis a good reason?

It started in the early 80's when I saw a game on the Swedish telly. I think I was around 8 or 9. Since then the club have made me feel miserable. But as a true City fan, I love it
