A simple question - who do you think will win the league?

I think United are likely the better team right now. However I also think that we have a chance come the last ten games of the season to be a much better team then they are. Time will tell on this one but when our players really gel, have had real time playing together through the winter and in the CL I think we may be one of the best sides seen in quite a long time come the last ten games of the season.

I think the derby at the end of the season will probably decide it.

United are for sure a better team. Anyone who tells your otherwise truly has some deeply-tinted specs on. On paper we have the better individuals, but we all know that means fuck all. We're closing the gap, though, however. The teams will show their true hands come December time as the season muscles start to ache and the title race /really/ starts. Sure this start is superb, but we have to remain level headed about our business.

United's scorelines don't reflect their 'prowess'. They've simply been the team converting the most chances in front of goal. That doesn't mean they're performing better and one-upping us as the media seem to believe. Not to mention, we could have easily had higher scorelines on the last two occasions, but...we didn't. It's football.

I think Rags are likely to win it, but City are very much in it. Probably just as much. The rags have had an advantage in recent times. They've had 2-3 core squads to carry them over them Prem. We can know say our team is dynamic as well. If we can get 110% out of our bench and squad like the rags, we could very well maintain a very potent and sustained run full of exhilarating games just like the rags in past years, but with City style footy.

Both teams are playing too well right now to tell. At some point they will both drop down from this excellent high. Then we can begin to judge. I wouldn't count Chelsea out either. There are just too many games left to go.

It seems for now it will be a 3 way race. City, United, and Chelsea. But all that might change soon. Like many have alluded too. Chelsea was just as hot as both of us are now, same time last year. But they cooled off. We are likely to cool off too, and so are the rags.

Lets just enjoy the ride. :)

-- Sat Sep 10, 2011 8:45 pm --

To be honest, I think our players have gelled already. Everyone is playing at a high level, and the addition of new stars (Nasri, Aguero, and Clichy) have raised everyones game. SIlva, Tevez, Dzeko, Yaya, Barry and Milner are all playing better because of the new additions.

Impossible to say at the moment 'aint it? Just as impossible to predict who'll go down, although you may already have your favourites. What is certain is that we're in for a thrilling ride- FANTASTIC times!

i think it is united's to lose tbh

not so, over the season we will overtake them and have daylight between us, they have played 2 stevie wonder 11's in a row, that wont last.
we have a much better squad now and could if we wanted to add to it in jan.

our title this year, chelsea runners up and the rags will fluke 3rd with the help of a few dodgy refs and an own goal every other week.

The Rags have 2 great thorns in their side, us in the PL and Barcelona in the CL.
Due to a relatively difficult start to their season Baconface had to get the squad fit and firing a bit earlier than usual this time. The thought of us getting a lead over them is one that sits not well with the old git. The "kids" are busting a gut to keep apace with us and this will surely tell in a little while as energy levels drop. In the meantime, we are playing in 20 minute bursts, doing enough and subbing out/keeping ball/rotating to keep us fresh and hungry.

United have a group of players who they can turn to to fill gaps (Fletcher, Carrick, Valencia, Park, Vidic, da Silva twins, Berbatov, Macheda) who we have hardly seen yet and probably will see as regulars in the CL campaign.

They may get lucky and some other team may do their dirty work for them by knocking Barca out of the CL in the latter stages (maybe even ourselves, who knows!) which will make life a great deal easier for them but they more likely will have to prioritise one competition and my view is that it would probably be the PL as us winning it will be a greater dent to his ego than bending over for the mighty Barca again "they're on a different planet, etc".

My view is that if we can learn to win games when the opponent put up a great fight and lead us, maybe a few 88th minute goals, we can take the title but we need reasonable luck in terms of injuries, refs, stroppy players etc. to achieve it.
Mancini has experience of winning titles and managing campaigns (look at the end of last season how we went on a near perfect run just at the vital time) and there is every chance that we can win the title but anybody who starts handing out prizes this side of Christmas is deluded.

Sit back and enjoy a scintillating season everyone.
