It might be early days but I have to say that Manuel Pellegrini has completely won me over.
I would like to apologise to all the BM members who I've attacked on here for having the belief that Mancini wasn't the right man.

I feel you were right and Pellegrini will be a massive step up and we are on the cusp of something great.

Any views fellow blues?
Do you always make decisions based on next to nothing?

I'll be making the decision on whether he's been doing a good job in eleven months time; if he hast I won't be calling for his head, if he has I won't be sucking his dick.

This thread reminds me of the Mancini outers who were slagging him off before we'd even had a game with him in charge, then posting things like you have when we won the league, then were saying they hated him again within six months.

It was a necessary thing, you can see it in the way the players have responded.

We aren't privy to everything that goes on behind the scenes. When I read about those players sitting in a hotel pub celebrating Mancini's sacking, it made sense why the decision was made in February.

It will be nice to not have so much drama off the pitch.

its hard to disagree with this. the club had no choice. the timing of it being leaked though was crass to the extreme.

Was it something to do with Barça for why it ended up being leaked?

Perhaps we knew things that you didn't?

No, you're just the sort of people who stand at the bar holding others up while you keep changing your mind over what drink is your favourite and which one yours going to buy, or the sort who separate from their wives then get back with them then change their mind and leave again...

Think it was Barca via Guillem Ballague who is close with Roberto Martinez

I seem to remember amongst all the furore about the Hughes sacking, Mancini was asked what he thought about the way his predecessor had been dismissed. His reply was along the lines of "thees eez football". Consequently i fail to understand all this handwringing over Mancini's sacking. A sacking is a sacking is a sacking. A bit like executions, there isn't really a nice way of doing it. It's just something that has to be done.

Why the shit are we covering "old ground" again ?? I was a Hughes and Bobby "inner" but who the fuck gives a shit now ??
Its gone, forgotten etc,but my stance has always been, that I will support our Owner,Khaldoon and the rest of the Board, who make the decisions on what is best for MY club.
For those who don`t like it, then please, just piss off.

Mancini is the right man at the right time I would say. City has problem about defense, he tightened up and we won the league. He delivered his promise but cannot bring us to the next level. When his team was caught up in the middle of parking bus he had no answer.
Most people say his man management is not good but I would say it may be the right way at that time as well when you have high ego players around like Robinho, Ade, Tevez the star players who come down to play in the our middle table team alongside the old players who used to have mid table mentality. He significantly changes the team mentality and makes it easier for the next to manage. For all of these I am so grateful.
I am sure Pellegrini will do his homework and will solve the problem of last season, same as Macini did successfully in his first season. I would wait until mid season when other teams found out how to deal with Pellegrini first plan and see how good Pellegrini react and adjust to combat again by using the same squad. Very interesting isn’t it.
good post.

Yes football managers get sacked surprise, surprise!! I was a big fan of Roberto but everyone will get behind Pellegrini. This Mancini vs Pellegrini angle touted by some on here is pretty irrelevant because the vast majority of us want the Club to win as many trophies as possible and hopefully MP is the man for the job.

The more lasting impact of the Mancini sacking might be in our perceptions of the players. yes I knew our squad was largely full of overpaid prima donnas but let's face it the team doesn't come out of the affair with any credit. I get the feeling that people's criticisms of the team won't be limited to a few scapegoats if we have another mediocre season. Yes Joe, if you want to play in the FA Cup Final it is time to get back to the level of performance we saw before last season.

Mancini's sacking also made us more aware of the tiers of managers / administrators and PR people running the club and who seemed to be spending much of their time looking after their own interests. Mancini's sacking was leaked in Spain but journos here were told - in confidence! - that Mancini was being sacked and the Club contributed to the FA Cup Final loss.
