A watch as an investment

The Casios are very good watches, even though they're sneered at by some.I like the look of the Edifice with the blue face. And if I can find it at a bargain price, I might invest. It's just that $1500 seems a lot for a Casio (your watch). Still; if you're happy with it, that's what counts. As for the Seiko, they've always made pretty decent watches. That one I have is a kinetic, so no pissing about with batteries. As I said earlier, accurate to a couple of seconds a week (not too shabby), and I think it looks okay.

The Oceanus is in a different league, quality-wise to be honest. It's hand-assembled and finished and is better made than any of my "expensive" watches. A sort of Honda NSX of watches. And the GPS feature is simply amazing - you get off the plane and watch it set itself to the local time, with atomic clock accuracy. I love it. I own too many watches, but if I had to have a cull and only keep one, the Oceanus could actually be it. Either that or the Submariner, which I also love.

The Seiko SBDC003 "Sumo" would be my choice for not silly money.

Also have a look at steinhart watches (either direct from them or via chronomaster.co.uk). I got a submariner homage with the green bezel and it is fantastic, both in price and quality.

Trouble is Rolex's are shit timekeepers, I got one for sales performance years ago, the fucking thing lost around 5-6 minutes
a week, the dealer, who was on King St then, said it's usual as they're 'Dress watches!' My mate, and my son in law, say exactly the same,
they've got them because of the undoubted Kudos and they are certainly very pretty watches, but get one from the pound shop
if you want to know the time ;)

I'd have to agree with that. I have one that I love but it's a poor timekeeper.

I don't understand paying £7k for something to give me information that even my fucking microwave tells me. Nearly every electronic device tells you the time as one of its most basic functions. I don't wear a watch because I don't see the point! I'm never late for anything because of it ;)
