For the sake of correctness I should tell you that he has actually played about half of his games for Bologna at left back too. BTW I am not saying he will be world class or even good enough for us. But he is an "actual left back' - something we do not have in our squad. I agree that he is unproven.


This argument wouldn't have happened if you had just acted confused and not aggressively argumentative. You assumed something was said that clearly wasn't and when we pulled it up you called us stupid.

I think you over reached, my response after is only more aggressive because the other poster responded unkindly. You should go back a few pages to see how things unfolded.
 
Scottish newspapers linking him with Aston Villa today. Pity. He’s already causing enough division on this thread, without even signing, to suggest he could be the ideal successor to Kolarov and ‘he who cannot be named‘…

To be fair you are right. It was Gogootz who first got rude/argumentative. However you replied to me (all I said was "no one said that") with "Are you guys stupid?".

Sorry for jumping to conclusions, I didn't realise.
I would suggest maybe you should have just replied to him as I felt like you insulted me for no reason, but I understand now and I'm sorry if I got needlessly belligerent.

Anyway...back to Hickey. Boy is a player and I understand him being linked with Aston Villa. Gerrards style of play is built solely around energetic fullbacks and he has already made it clear Nathan Patterson is who he wants to bring in.

Patterson and Hickey would be fantastic together given time. Both very strong talents that I think could be capable of playing at the top level in the peak.

I heard alot of rumours he would be after Patterson and Tierney, but I don't see KT wanting to move to Villa.

Tierney extended last summer, keeping him at Arsenal until 2026, so I don’t imagine there’s anything in that rumour.

From what I’ve been told a few months ago this wasn’t on the cards but obviously things change. A really good player by all accounts.

He played right wing back both games.

532 and 352 is the same formation.
 
Don't think this lad gets enough talk as an option I know we've got our own youths but not on his level, he can play both sides of fullback and even in defensive or central midfield apparently, he's looked very mature an air of confidence and composure when I've seen him play even if Serie A is played a different pace, with the money talked about under £20m it could save us a lot and even if he failed here we wouldn't lose much at all plus we'd get a good sell on fee it seems a no brainer to me, personally think he'd be excellent backup for our fullback areas a great rotation option, whenever Walker/Cancelo need a rest he could come in one seems to be out at least once every few games or rotated, knowing us we'll be interested in a few years for a £70m price tag but I think we should move this summer.

I've heard him be called the Scottish Lahm and Kimmich too there must be some truth to it in style he's certainly impressed me, reckon Pep would love a player of his versatility and supposed professionalism if he can mould him into a great player he certainly would.... I understand other clubs can guarantee him more football but Pep is known for bringing fullback talents to a whole new level and that must count for something in Hickey's mind.

I’d love him here. Quality player, we almost had him before the Bologna move but he thought it was too big a jump at that stage of his career
 
Too much of a step up and isn't any better than Cancelo. Maybe have a look in getting cover for Walker.
