Aaron Hickey

Going to sound horribly pedantic, apologies, but he’s actually right-footed, albeit a player who is comfortably adept playing on either flank. Still a fair few rough edges to his game but certainly a player on the right trajectory.
Christ, seems pretty adept with both to a very decent level then. can hardly tell

He’s got potential to be better than Trent. He’s probably better defensively already. Still very young, Pep and the coaches could bring him to next level.

He was quite good in Italy, watched him a few times and thought mmmm, not doing so well in England decent full back not so good wing back, he is not the answer to our problem but could be a good stop gap.

Don’t know him at all, but when any player is mentioned my thoughts are always the same:

“Is he a ‘footballer’?”
“Is he technically proficient?”
“Is he a ‘good lad’ who would fit into the squad?”

If I can’t answer “Yes!” to all of those, I don’t waste time thinking about the player.

Pep could do anything with him tbh
Perhaps. The strange thing is that we’ve been linked with him at different stages of his development for nearly 5 years. I’m still not convinced he’d be an effective fullback in the traditional sense, but if Guardiola is planning to invert more, then someone who could come in off either flank and be equally proficient would be understandable. If that is the idea, however, I’m not sure why we didn’t go for him last summer when we could have got him much more cheaply. Instead, we spent a summer in pursuit of the hirsute, which probably distracted us.

Yeah, we made an offer to him before the bologna move but he thought it was too big a step. Seems a smart kid. A decent replacement for Cancelo.

Mr Hickey!

Lewis and hickey as full backs. 20 apps each in DM by pep.

I think he'd be a great signing,

Very intelligent, versatile player, surrounded with the best players and the best coaching he will make the step up in no time.

He's doing well at Brentford because they are well coached but he doesn't really stand out in the all action, high tempo style. In a more controlled team he'd be perfect.

Maybe Sergio Gómez's getting moved on or moved into auxiliary for the midfield?

That kid doesn't seem to add anything major I can see.
Gomez looks far better in midfield or inverted roles. Surely Gomez could be used in the role stones plays

would be a great signing. We were linked with him a few years back when he was still at hearts, i guess pep wanted to wait and see how he developed before making a move.
Iirc he turned down a move to Bayern as he didn’t want to play back up/development level football, he wanted regular 1st team games.
