There was a time when City We're from Manchester was the only thing we had over the Reds. When I look at the Cars in the Car parks at City, and the empty seats for midweek Cup games, I think we have to concede that although our club maybe in Manchester, a lot of City fans come from the suburbs or outside of Manchester. All that matters to me is that the club continues to grow, and that the fans have the same sense of loyalty that they always had (through thick and thin).

Salford is not and never been part of Manchester mate.If someone asks where I'm from I say Salford,the reply is normally oh Manchester which I find annoying.Salford is a city in it's self,you will find anyone born in Salford and they'd say the same mate.

My mum was born in Eccles (now aged 82 )..and she says it is in Salford..SO IT IS !!
She moved on and all her family were born in Fallowfield which is in south Manchester.

Manchester (or greater manc) is a bloody big place. I drove through a town called atherton the other day aswell as leigh and worsley and in the past ive also been to hyde, staylebridge, mosley and offerton etc etc. My point being that are you all as one or do you sometimes refer to each other as inbreds???....a bit like us in Stoke ;-)

Tony H Wilson otherwise known as 'Mr Manchester' was from Salford and always made a point of saying so and correcting people who sais he was Manchester.

Personally I thought he was a tw@t but at least the fella knew where he was from.

My girlfriend is from Eccles and tells people she is from Salford. Her dad however also from Eccles (born and bred) tells people he is from Manchester because when he was born Eccles was in Manchester.

If I was from Salford then I suppose I too would tell people I was from Salford. Luckily I was born in Wythenshaw and so don't have such an embarrassing problem.

as an eccles lad myself, i am confused about this myself. i also thought that when i was born, eccles was manchester, then there was a strange period where manchester and salford disputed eccles (in a bad way - "no it's yours"), before it was decided that eccles was now in salford.
so i was born in hope hospital but raised in eccles but i see myself as a manc. am i wrong?

and another thing, apart from home births, there is no maternity hospital in Salford now. So recent and future births in Salford are/will be extremely rare. It's government-oriented genocide.
