Adam Johnson admits he may quit City???

Mancini is right. Everyone on here wants us to be a top, top club. Unfortunately there are a few players who simply cannot play every week if we are to achieve this target.

Johnson is one of them.

Of course every team in the league would want him in their squad. He can change games and he can make an impact from the bench. However, our attacking trio of Silva, Tevez and Balotelli are all better players. 4-4-2 isn't working well for us, because our options in the centre of the pitch really limit us to playing a 3. So that leaves a series of questions...

Do you feel we'd be a as solid with him in the side at the expense of either Yaya, Barry, De Jong or Milner? Maybe in some games, but against the top teams - no way.

Is Johnson good enough to change the system for? I don't think he is.

Do you believe Johnson would start for Chelsea, United or Arsenal? I don't.

Do you trust Johnson when we are playing a top side? Again, i don't i'm afraid.

He excites me, but for now Mancini is totally correct. He has to offer more than a couple of fancy runs. He needs to be assisting, he needs to be scoring and he needs to be helping the team.

It's a shame, because i like him, but i don't think there can be room for sentiment when we are expected to win every week.

i'm more a person that wants attacking players to be left to attack and leave the defensive duties to the defence, if a system that includes a back 4 of boateng,kolarov,toure,kompany and de jong/yaya just in front can't cope with looking after the likes of birmingham's strikers and needs the likes of johnson to track back almost as a full back at times then we've got some fuckin serious defensive issues. imo johnson looked average against birmingham because everytime he picked up the ball he was in his own half of the pitch and has to run 60/70yrds before he gets to an area of the pitch he can cause other teams serious problems by which point he's fuckin knackered.

Actually he made some top class crosses, it's not his fault we don't have anyone forward who can head the ball though. What's the point in wingers if there is no one to cross to.

Thats either because he is a numpty with no football brain (putting in deep crosses into a box with no city players - because tevez drops off deep) or because Mancini is adopting stupid tactics asking him to do this. Either way it aint working. He has been poor. He offers a lot less than Johnson in an attacking sense.

If you took the entire England squad and asked them "would you like Adam Johnson in your club you'd get 100% Yes.

If you took every football pundit and ex-player in the media and asked them "Are Manchester City better or worse with Adam Johnson in the squad" you'd get 100% Yes.

It isn't a bold, brash, or contraversial statement. It's stating the bleeding obvious.

For a start, he IS in the squad, so that's your entire argument gone! What he isn't is in the starting 11 based on performance.

When Mancini says Johnson doesn't 'understand the game' he means

a) A trick or two doesn't make you 'world class'.

b) Help your defence out more than what you do.

c) Know the right run to make.

d) Know the right pass to make.

e) Know when to shoot and when not to.

f) Stop drinking excessively.

g) Stop being a celeb and concentrate on your job.

h) Shut the fook up.

You wouldn't want to disagree with the DDs though - it would show "you have no knowledge of the game". I would also direct your attention to the subtle distinction embodied in DD's familiar argument that the entire human population that lives, or has ever lived, or will ever live (together with various subsets) must agree with him that AJ should be in the squad i.e. not team.

How about you shut the fook up and apply all of your pathetically constructed crap to Milner? He doesnt drink excessively? Bravo James. What else has he done consistently? Other than produce nothing. He's playing out of position. It's a complete waste of a player in terms of attacking.

When did he drop him when he was flying? He played 3 consecutive premier leauge games earlier in the season where he played very well in one of them and was poor in the other two games (The latter two aswell). I like Adam Johnson as a player in respect that he offers something different but i don't think he's good enough to start at the moment as he doesn't offer enough. I reckon when Balotelli is back we'll go with Balo, Silva and Tevez as the front free and i don't think anyone can complain about that at this moment in time

It needs putting into context. Johnson is an attacking player. In and out. One on one. A high tempo player. When city play a slow controlled low tempo game, the only time he is going to be effective is should we suddenly break on the counter attack. Because the slow tempo build up is resulting in him receiving the ball very deep, in front of a defence which has fronted up. In the first half against Liverpool we moved the ball much quicker and that suited Johnson hence he was our most attacking player in the first half.

I actually fear he is suited better elsewhere if we continue to play this barbarically negative slow tempo football, fearing the opposition. I accept away from home, sometimes, a more cautious approach might be needed during the first half in tough competitive games, but at home, we just havent utilised Johnson enough in the right areas. Instead we have had the pleasure and delight of watching the average Milner work hard, up and down with zero productivity. But then again, he does allow the fans to identify with him. He's a worker. And that is all some fans want.

That doesn't of course take into account the amount of times he's wasted the ball when theres absolutely no need to try and beat a man. As i said twice within the first 10 minutes he tried to beat a man when there was an easy pass on and he ran the ball out of play, he's a good dribbler but he doesn't need to dribble with it all the time

He was effective against Liverpool because they pushed up and he could get one on one against their full back and there was space in behind, against the likes of Birmingham who will sit deep, invite pressure and are happy to defend all day you have to adapt your game, you have to realise you can't always beat the defender and you must use the ball much more effective than he has been doing
