Adam Johnson: Joining Manchester City is bad for your career

Johnson was a very lucky boy playing for us, our system made him look good, getting the ball in and around the box, a quick trick and he looks good and can set something up, lovely. He's now stuck on the wing too far from the box, a quick trick and he's still miles from the box with no pace to ever get there or create anything, some folk need to know there limits.

Got a start in his 'homecoming' game against us - anonymous. Started in the NE derby and played against a team down to 10 men - anonymous.

As someone said earlier, being with us actually made him look better than he is because of the players around him. By the end of the season. he'll be a bench-warmer at Sunderland at this rate and whingeing that O'Neill doesn't know how to get the best out of him.

I think he is better than most give him credit for on here its just that his work rate is appalling he needs good players to get the best out of him. I can see why he got annoyed at City, plays a game scores 2 and creates 1 and then is dropped but often that was because we needed 11 men defending the counter attacks and not 10 and a half.
He is like a poor mans Robinho and we had no space for him either so Johno had no chance

Not playing week-in-week out is bad for your career. It made SWP half the player after joining Chelsea and only playing now and again.

Don't be daft enough to sign for a club too good for your level would be the most sensible advice to give young players.

I think Johnson will look back at his time at City as the highlight of his career - playing with quality players who created the space for him to play in.

He should have kept his gob shut kept his head down and he could have had a good career with City. As it is it's all downhill from here on.

too right he will, he'll probably never win anything again at Sunderland, he got a couple of trophies one is the Premier League arguably the best league in the world and the other was the F.A cup THE greatest cup competition on the planet

I like Adam Johnson but he needs to start being a great player like Silva.I thought Mancini was right to have go at him last season. He was very poor in the North east derby on sunday.
