I don't think Lavia's exit was because we bought Kalvin.
We at the time thought Lavia was injury prone and needed time to prove himself, so we sold him to go develop with a buy back.
It was fully expected he would be back at City, but Chelsea just offered him a big money deal that he couldn't resist and we couldn't because we had to be meticulous with our books.
It's okay though.. because I have a feeling Perrone and Nico will have higher peaks and be better than Lavia in the long run.
Think the buy back kicked in after 2 years and Soton got relegated so we had no option last summer and moneybags Chelsea jumped in. Just unfortunate from City’s perspective.
