It was fully expected he would be back at City, but Chelsea just offered him a big money deal that he couldn't resist and we couldn't because we had to be meticulous with our books.

Think the buy back kicked in after 2 years and Soton got relegated so we had no option last summer and moneybags Chelsea jumped in. Just unfortunate from City’s perspective.
 
This signing would make the most sense for me, especially in the long term.

Someone that can cover Rodri in the short term and then play next to him when he’s back.

He’s got so much potential and could end up playing for us for years.
