Additional time

We score a winner in the 108th minute I’m all for it.
We concede a winner in the 108th minute they can fuck off with their rule changes ruining the game.

Unless VAR overturn our conceded goal whilst we’re in the dressing room…

What you say though is exactly how fans think.

Advantage gained - finally
Disadvantage - corrupt, cartel, inconsistency, whataboutism.

That Alvarez yellow card was absolutely fucking criminal. He didn't boot the ball away in dissent, he rolled it off the touchline when multiball was in use. The PFA need to do something. Get these refs miced up, make VAR transparent, use a stop clock for injury time and compel them to face the press to explain their outrageous decisions. I would fully support a players strike.

It’s not about dissent. The booking was totally Alvarez’ fault and I support this rule 100%. If it’s an opponents free kick/possession and the ball is dead you have zero right to touch the ball under any circumstances. It is not your possession. Whether it’s well-intentioned or not you are robbing the attacking team of its advantage.

This isn’t shades of grey stuff, it’s black and white and it was explained in great detail to all the players ahead of kick off - if you touch the ball when it’s not yours, expect a booking. Partey didn’t listen he got booked, Alvarez didn’t listen and he got booked too. Totally fair. Neither of them booted the ball away and I think both of them did it automatically because it’s so ingrained in them to immediately kick the ball away after conceding possession.

How many times have you seen teams delay a counter attack with a cynical foul followed by kicking the ball 10 yards to delay the restart? It’s gamesmanship pure and simple and its a scourge that needs eradicating along with time wasting and feigning injury.

I hope referees are all over what seems to be latest time wasting fad. Kicking another ball on to the pitch when the opposition are about to take a quick throw. Seen it twice already this season and the Prem. not even started yet.

I think Alvarez was a tad unlucky. He did kick the ball away, but another ball was already being thrown to Timber.

Had Alvarez left the ball on the field, that would have delayed the restart more than by doing what he did.

Personally like the move for time wasting to be punished but can’t they only stick to the letter of the law when games are tight? If it’s 3/4-0 - what’s the point of banging on 9/10 minutes added time? I know they won’t/can’t but seems a bit silly.

It’ll be satisfying to see a team time waste for the whole game then suffer in additional time, though. Shame Southampton have gone down because I’d have loved to see them punished.

this will go until October then redtops will suffer 2-3 games where they concede match losing goals in 13th minute of extra time and Webb will jump in to make it go away.

Webb has said today that teams had better get used to it because this is not going to be a fad, it’s the way it is now going forward.

Although he did say he expects additional time to drop once teams get the message that refs are going to be sticking to the new directives and they adjust accordingly.
