Additional time

The extra time added to the 8 mins on sunday I have no issue with as the injury caused that, I do wonder where the 8 minutes came from, but have been told that every booking, substitution, long free kick set up they add 30 seconds on a time, whether true or not fuck knows.

My main gripe is about Alvarez yellow card, the ball went out for a throwing, multi ball is no in operation so Julie kicks it out as a new ball was thrown near to the player taking the throwing, don't get how that can be deemed kicking the ball away and a yellow, gonna be a lot of bookings if genuinely knocking a ball out of play because multiball requires it is misenterpritated as time wasting

That Alvarez yellow card was absolutely fucking criminal. He didn't boot the ball away in dissent, he rolled it off the touchline when multiball was in use. The PFA need to do something. Get these refs miced up, make VAR transparent, use a stop clock for injury time and compel them to face the press to explain their outrageous decisions. I would fully support a players strike.

Barnsley’s goalkeeper was booked for time wasting in the 89th minute when they were 6-0 up.

Fortunately, the extra time that was given for his booking allowed them to score a 7th in the 96th minute against Port Vale.

If you’re looking for that ever elusive consistency, that’s probably a good sign.

Technically he wouldn’t have been booked for time wasting but delaying the re-start. Which should in theory apply equally no matter what the score or the time of the game.

I guess, but I’m sure Port Vale would have allowed him to stand there and not take it for 7 minutes.

It’ll never be right as football is nuanced. There’s little point in booking players for time wasting when a game is dead, even though the laws suggest they should be.

Let's see how it pans out at the red mardarse clubs.

I bet they will be getting minimum tike added if they are winning and the maximum time if they are losing or drawing.

Mark my words it'll be different for these pricks, it's been different officiating and debatable VAR decisions for years there, why should it change now there are new rules.
Keep an eye out on the time added, I'm telling you.

I agree. Every young referee is taught that the most important law of the game is Law: 18, the law of common sense.

But in these days where everything is analysed to within an inch of its like, you can bet your life that people will be all over a referee booking someone one week for taking less time than something he let go the previous week, even in totally different circumstances.

Yeah. We’ve seen it on our threads on here. This 6-0 booking is now a precedent and can be used as and when a keeper doesn’t get booked with 5 minutes left when we’re 5 up.

I don’t really know how football moves forward as debate is impossible due to tribalism.

Football could try something really radical and ref the game according to the rules. Book players that are time wasting even if it's in the first 5 minutes.
this is answer the ref is there to manage the game and should keep it moving moving along then no need unless serious injury in game for extra time
