Adebayor (merged)

There are plenty of quality players across Europe who will be looking at Adebayor and wishing they were in his situation now, we shouldn't have to twist peoples' arms to play for us.

We shouldn't expect people to sign at the click of our fingers either. Give him time for the reasons that have been mentioned in this thread.

Then if he does sign we'll know he wanted to come.

playing Devil's advocate i suppose the only problem could be if AC have come sniffing cos they can't tie up Fabiano, although if AC are quibling about paying 20mil for Fabiano i can't really see them stumping up 20+mil for Ade.

other than that he has no other options so don't see he has any reason to delay.

I don't think is the reason for the delay. Why would anyone want to play for Milan when the finest club in the whole wide world are after you.

Didnt Ric say that this deal was done yesterday evening?

didn't see the thread but i've seen the thread mentioned so yeah.

lots of people saying it's done. lots of people saying it'll never happen. we won't know for sure until he's holding a sky blue shirt on the official site, or he does like Carlitos and has a little signing party with Garry and Mark.

there are some quality ITKs on this site and elsewhere (and yeah there are some WUMs and attention whores) but as we've learned from experience (and the better ITKs will say) it's not truly a done deal until the ink is drying on the contract.

yeah the weather and life style in milan are shit, far to sunny, and chic, i would much rather be in manchester with the culture of cheetham hill and moss side, soft get fancy taking the easy option lol

Yeah it may well have looked done from club insiders point of view so people like Ric would have thought it was done. When a guy attends a work permit hearing you've got to be confident.

No one can control the individual players mind though. Until he puts that pen on the paper, nothing is done.

Why? whats there to think about.Arsenal don;t want him. He;s joining soon to be the best club in Europe. He;s not being asked to pack in football and take a job at tesco;s ffs.Besides half these footballers will make themselves ill if they start to "think".

Does he want to move from London?
Does he want to play under Hughes (not just because it['s Hughes, it's soemthing every player thinks about before moving to a new club)?
Does he want to be perceved in the media as being greedy?
Does he want to live in an area where players houses are getting robbed?
Is it convenient to uproot his family?
Does he want to sacrifice Champions League football?

Want me to carry on?

Your very naive if you think it's a decision someone makes on a car ride from London to Manchester.
he has been moaning about leaving so points1,2,3,,6,7 go through the window..point 4,,well most are greedy bastards anyway,,point5 happens averywhere, thats the downside of being a greedy bastard.

Are there many African players in the North West? I imagine he's got good friends in London with a lot of African players like Eboue, Essien etc

Maybe we should buy Eboue aswell to be his buddy...

Anyway he can't stay at Arsenal now, I don't believe that's possible with all that's gone on so his options will be Chelsea and Milan.

Maybe Chelsea will want to screw us over. They only have Anelka & Drogba up front.

I was only passing on a text I got from someone who works for the club, although admittedly they wouldn't have been privy to the negotiations. Information they've given in the past has been accurate, but obviously not this time!

Note to self: keep things like this to yourself in future :)

I hope you don't mate!

It's clear to see that this WAS pretty much done from City's side. They wouldn't have anticipated Ade doing this so late on.

Tut, your 100% ITK record continues ;-P

Tell him to sign or knob off by close of today. Difference between him and Eto'o is that Eto'o is a world star, but this guy is only 3 years younger yet has achieved nothing like Eto's has. he is a moody difficult sod and we should take this as a warning and not sign him - christ if he is like this before he signs what will he be like in a few months, especially if he has to squad rotate? If he wants to hold out for the scum or milan let him - they will not buy him and they will not pay him what we will, so let him rot at arsenal. Sorry I really wanted this guy to join but not if he wants to piss us about
