Adebayor to Spurs

Does everyone on here think that the club is totally stupid? Do you think that there's someone out there willing to pay big money for Adebayor and we are CHOOSING to loan him to Spurs instead? What if the only other option available to the club is to keep him on the books and pay all his wages? Lets say he's on 160k (and I have no idea how accurate that figure is) and Spurs are willing to pay 80k. That means we've saved circa 4 mill over the course of the loan, plus Spurs will probably have the option to buy at the end of the loan and even if they don't exercise this option, he will have been in the shop window and away from the rest of the squad where he would probably have been a sulking/unhappy pain in the arse. Maybe it's not ideal, but it's not the terrible option some make it out to be.

Ok lads, I'm a Spurs fan... As you can see from my username, I come in peace! Don't want no pointless internet argument in which some northerner pledges to "break my neck" and so fourth.

Basically, I think you're all a bit deluded. After one game to be so confident of finishing above everyone, and you only beat poxy Swansea, who seemed to pose less attacking threat than a teaspoon.

Anyhow, I think you lot lending us Adebayor would be great, thanks! He should propel us above Arseanal and the Bindippers, who have done a "Man City" so to speak on average crap like Downing and Charlie Adam instead of David Silva!

Adebayor should help us finish near you, as you really won't be as high as you like to think. I can see ManUre pissing it this season, mainly cos Chelsea are literally older than their manager, and you lot will need more time to gel. Also I think Mancini is a richmans Ranieri. I find him rather clueless and think he needs upgrading upon if you are to win the league ever. And you should be looking at winning the league considering you've spent the equivalent of USA's national debt on transfers.

Lets see if you can refrain from just uttering insults. Doubt it.
You come talking shite.
Are you a tabloid hack in disguise?
Uninformed, cliche-riddled hogwash from a sad, envious little man who is symbolic of the club he supports — a big mouth and big statements, but with a small-time attitude to backing it all up.
I bet you have a cock like a cashew nut.
As for Mancini versus the crook? Well, lets get their medals on the table and lets sort that one out very quickly.
By the way, what are you going to sing to Ade if you people can't use that sickeningly racist song anymore?

I thought Caicedo/Lavente deal was stupidest but this has gone to another level...

No matter what the real deal is, the media will portray us as fools and Redknap as a mastermind. Ade will no longer be a vilan in their eyes but a poor unfortunate victim at last free of our clutches. Thank God and the Queen for Harry Fn Redknap.

If its the only option or as hgblue said the choice of having to keep him then its is not fukin ridiculous! - we have to get him away from the club end of and Hughes signed him on ridiculous wages that's the truth. Some really don't understand the way it works...

He won't be allowed to play against us if it's a loan.
No bullshit? Is this true? If so, complete the deal. He'll no doubt take points from our rivals because if there's one team that Adebayor will fit PERFECTLY in, it's Tottenham, no doubt!

It won't have been Hughes who negotiated his wages. He wouldn't have had any part in that discussion. It will have been the same two people who are seemingly loaning him to one of our rivals.

Would rather Real have him on a free.

he was offered to real dirt cheap, would have got him off our books, they turned it down.

Yeah, Ladyman is sure we won't be paying anything towards his wages and is wondering where Spurs will find the money.

Yeah, no shit. If we somehow miss on a CL spot to Spuds, it will be some infamous mockery that would haunt the club forever.

Really hope Khaldoon takes control of this before it's too late if true. I would rather give him to Inter or Real for free.

Doesn't PSG or Malaga want a striker?

He already said no to PSG. Why does nobody understand that Ade holds the cards here. He will only go where he wants to go and we can't do anything about it.

If Ade were offered City EDS vs. PSG, would he take PSG?

Its a good question. IMO he would take the EDS.

Ok lets put one myth to bed here before it starts going mad here. Ade is our 5th choice striker thats not a big signing and shows what sort of level tottenham are at.
Redknapp is not some sort of magician who can get the best out of all his players, if that was the case he wouldnt need new signings would he as he would get the best out of what he has but he cant, hes good at giving a sound bite as a manager hes good but he isnt some kind of wonder boy.

The idea of helping spurs out is madness but before we turn ade into the best thing since sliced bread lets remember where he is on our totem pole and lets not buy into the media hype surrounding him and surrounding the messiah that the media want redknapp to be.

Last season they perpuated the myth that all four of their strikers had bad seasons, the myth that they were this attacking behemoth and all it needed was a striker on the end of it and they would have pissed the league. Can you imagine if any other team bar united would have used that excuse. All four of our strikers had a bad season they would be laughed at and rightly so.

I lose a little faith in common sense every time i read this thread....

Some people need to stop giving opinion as fact, or correct..

In simple terms even paying half of Ade's wage bill will be great for our FFP forecast.

His wage's do not count against us because his deal was in 2010, but the loan fee and the % of salary they pay will all be classed as income. So £5m wage saving + the £2m fee, £7m towards FFP compliance.... It really is that simple, and what the entire deal is about.

Forget helping Tottenham, if they are still our rival then we are in trouble.

Spurs fan in peace, like city a lot hope they win the league this season, given what they have spent this season, and what their fans had to put up with in the 1990s and early 2000’s. With a bit more attacking clout they should really have done better last season, and it would be nice seeing someone else winning the league for a change.

Anyway getting to Abebayor, I can understand why so many of the fans would be up in arms with us not even paying half his wages, but he can help us taking points from cities rivals, starting on Monday night. If you would have said last season about us signing Abebayor I would have laughed, but he is a lot better than what we have currently in the squad, and with us restricted in who we could target, he will be perfect solution for the team this season. Even with Adebayor we won’t finish anywhere near city this season.

I don't think they are as skint as the crack on to be. They gave Darren Bent a 90k pw contract when they signed him, what was that 4 years ago?

Our owner Joe Lewis is actually pretty wealthy I think, The reason we have such a stringent wage budget is simply because Levy runs the club like he would a business. This is speculation but I would guess that as a managing director of ENIC International (an investment company owned by Joe Lewis.) it was him as a Spurs fan that pushed through the decision to buy controlling stakes in the club and I have heard of nothing to indicate that Joe Lewis is a Spurs fan, so I assume as long as Levy can generate some kind of profit from the investment then Lewis would be happy to keep his stakes but I'm pretty sure that he would never pour money into the club as your owner has (no dig intended).
