Spurs fan in peace, like city a lot hope they win the league this season, given what they have spent this season, and what their fans had to put up with in the 1990s and early 2000’s. With a bit more attacking clout they should really have done better last season, and it would be nice seeing someone else winning the league for a change.
Anyway getting to Abebayor, I can understand why so many of the fans would be up in arms with us not even paying half his wages, but he can help us taking points from cities rivals, starting on Monday night. If you would have said last season about us signing Abebayor I would have laughed, but he is a lot better than what we have currently in the squad, and with us restricted in who we could target, he will be perfect solution for the team this season. Even with Adebayor we won’t finish anywhere near city this season.
Pull it out mate. I consider myself a pretty level headed Spurs fan but you're basically just performing fellatio on the blues fans.
I dont think for a second City will be miles ahead of us. Buying Aguero is a great purchase, but selling Tevez comfortably offsets that. I don't think City are a better team last season by any stretch, and we were competing all year. If you have Tevez and Aguero playing together though, then I might agree.
Back on topic, Adebayor will be a great signing for us if it goes through. Never really rated him at Arsenal, Ive always thought Arsenal flatter their strikers in the goals column with their excellent midfield, but his first season with City proved me wrong.
I dont think he is the answer to our problems long term, enough fans have complained about his laziness, but on loan I don't see a downside.
As for Spurs strikers underperforming, the reality for me is that it was only Defoe who really underperformed. To anyone claim that Defoe scoring only 4 goals isn't him having a bad, out of character season is ridiculous, especially after he scored 18 the year before. Crouch and Pav didn't really contribute but for me, they played about to their level. They just aren't good enough.
If Adebayor getsjust 15 league goals, with VdV behind him having a similar season to last (13 goals), I think we will be competing all season long.
You claim he is your 5th choice striker, but only due to whatever fallout he and Mancini had. Dezeko and Balotelli haven't proven themselves in the Premiership to the extent that Adebayor has, and with Tevez likely to leave I'd say Aguero is your only striker who is a whole lot better than him. Maybe at the end of the season one of Dzeko/Balo will have 20 and I'll change my mind, but not yet.
