Adebayor to Spurs

I would like us to give the impression that we are happy to see Adebayor go to Spurs. Then a couple of days before the window, pull out, and say he is not available. Thus leaving Spurs without a striker and having to find a replacement within a couple of days.

I would hope that if Adebayor does go to Spurs, that it is for a year long deal. I wouldn't want him to comeback to City in January and then go on international duty for two months while we are paying his wages.

You don't think he ever acted like a twat then?

Your opinion only.

Depends on what you consider to be 'twatty' so to speak.

Ade had one full season at City (09/10). His goal scoring record was pretty good for a guy who'd been to the ACON and been through the trauma he went through there, and had two ridiculous 3 game bans.

He came back for pre season last season and became persona non grata with Mancini. I guess this is where the fiction about him being a 'twat' comes from. Suddenly he was lazy, had a bad attitude, etc. I'm sure there's an element of truth in it, in the sense that he probably gave up giving a shit once it became clear that Jo had moved ahead of him in the pecking order and he realized that Mancini wasn't going to give him a chance.

Don't get me wrong. Mancini should have 100% control over team affairs, so I've got no gripe with him as a manager saying "I don't fancy that player" and moving them on. However the revisionist way in which any player who Mancini decides to sell suddenly becomes a "twat" with a "bad attitude" is more than a bit sad and sums up the fickle nature of some football supporters.

From what I heard (that led to the persona non grata), Ade flew into the dressing room shouting and balling after he was used as a last minute sub (no doubt to waste time and allow a player a standing ovation, Tevez I believe) demanding that he never be used in that way again. A row ensued with Mancini furious that he had been "spoken" to like that etc etc.

Ade never apologised and Mancini holds a grudge when his authority is questioned in front of the squad (as all great managers do). From what I hear, the majority of the players felt Ade was out of order.

I back Bobby M every time.

I heard that at the time. As I said in my post, once it became clear that Ade wasn't going to be given a chance, he probably did stop giving a shit.

My point stands though...completely revisionist to start calling Ade a twat just because the manager doesn't fancy him.

Yeah, I will to be honest. Top footballer, and a great guy.

Shame so many people choose to treat him like a twat. Guess the manager set the trend though...

Act like a twat and be treated like one Billy.

Does Balo fall into this equation?

Plenty of fans call him a twat so yeah, I suppose it does.

The refusing to train whilst the first team were in America was a twatty thing to do!

Yeah but thats just "fan nature" Billy.

I personally think he would score a bag full in this team and I would prefer that Mancini patched things up (similar with Bellers), but there can be only one voice of authority and Mancini does things his way and it has been successful. I don't think he is a twat (though he acted like one in said event - but who hasn't done something they later regret?), though he could be lazy.

The spirit in the dressing room is also better than it has ever been from what I hear so who am I to second guess the gaffer.

Unfortunately football success is not always about getting the players playing that posses the most talent, but having the most harmony in the dressing room (to an extent) and to be honest, the players we have brought in make his loss much more negligible.

True but i bet the one's that think Ade is a twat are probably the same one's that hail Balo as a God.

The fickle double standards of a football fan strikes again........

To be honest, if that surprises you then I am shocked.

Be like me, rise above it, stroke your chin and know you're better than that. ;-)
