Adebayor to Spurs

Adebayor, Bridge, Bellamy are all players that have helped our side to become a 5th spot team from 10th. I have nothing against them, i wish ' em all the best.

Depends on what you consider to be 'twatty' so to speak.

Ade had one full season at City (09/10). His goal scoring record was pretty good for a guy who'd been to the ACON and been through the trauma he went through there, and had two ridiculous 3 game bans.

He came back for pre season last season and became persona non grata with Mancini. I guess this is where the fiction about him being a 'twat' comes from. Suddenly he was lazy, had a bad attitude, etc. I'm sure there's an element of truth in it, in the sense that he probably gave up giving a shit once it became clear that Jo had moved ahead of him in the pecking order and he realized that Mancini wasn't going to give him a chance.

Don't get me wrong. Mancini should have 100% control over team affairs, so I've got no gripe with him as a manager saying "I don't fancy that player" and moving them on. However the revisionist way in which any player who Mancini decides to sell suddenly becomes a "twat" with a "bad attitude" is more than a bit sad and sums up the fickle nature of some football supporters.
Finally. some common sense![/quote]

Spot on Billy - the revisionist attitude of some blues is trés facepalm.

Mancini never said that Adebayor was a twat, he said that he was a good player that wasn't in his plans. Similarly, I've read stuff about how he's a nice guy in the dressing room (at Real, too - popular guy there, apparently) and I've seen him put an arm around younger players on the field.

The real problem was that, when playing with Tevez, Adebayor didn't have the discipline to play the 'big striker' role - he'd drift to the left time and again, then try to dribble his way into the centre and lose it.

He's got talent, so we can only assume that he wasn't doing what Mancini asked him to do on the pitch.

Good post mate, and one I agree with to some extent.

Having seen the improvement in our squad of players under Roberto, I am disappointed he didn't try and work with Ade, because I imagine he could have moulded him into a fucking beast of a centre forward. My personal opinion is Mancini just thought he wasn't technically a good enough ball player and decided very early doors that he was going to sign someone better.

That's always been my opinion as well. Frankly, the only problem I have with Ade is he's offside far too often for someone with his level of football skill. That's not a condemnation. If anything, it's his tendency to drift out of games a bit mentally (hence the offside problems and such) that put him out of the first team.

I think Tottenham is getting an excellent player. Damn them.

That was always an annoying part of his game. And all my Arsenal friends harped on it when we got him. They were like "Good luck winning the offside trophy this season!" Lol Fukking twats> I hope Ade Terrorizes them this season for Spurs :P

What a bizarre thing to say, those that think Ade is a twat do so because they think Ade is a twat, those that think Balo is a god obviously don't think Balo is a twat.

I'm sorry i don't have it in me to explain................

No, i'd figured that much

How can i begin to explain to someone that wont understand and is less intelligent than what i am?.........never mind eh!

sounds like Diarra will be in in time for the match on Sunday. They'll probably be a bit tougher to break down than they were on Monday if they play a Diarra/Huddlestone combo in midfield.

My personal take on this is that despite being technically gifted Adebayor is lazy and too single minded. What I mean by that is he is regularly caught offside, doesn't work back (not track back ! lol), when he has the ball he tends not to bring others into play, despire his stature he isnt great at taking the ball down (a confident Dzeko is now showing how this is done - would a confident Ade ? No as he was supremely confident when he came here).

Look at the way the players work for the team now, even Silva is running his backside off the get back behind the ball. I just dont think Mancini felt he could get Adebayor to do so.

Good luck to him, especially against Arsenal, Chelsea and the Rags

It was bad-timing for Manu, too - we only played one up top, and he was never going to start ahead of Tevez. Some argue 'well, Jo got games...', but Jo accepted that we would be a barely-used sub, or start the odd Europa League game. I'm not sure Adebayor did. His flirtations with AC Milan, while at Arsenal, indicated a rather high opinion of himself ;)

And yes, he can be a beast still. That Arsenal team played to his strengths - they were able to work the ball to the final third and then keep it there a while. That meant he was usually receiving the ball in the box (either to feet, or as the only possible target for crosses). He could use his strength and quick feet, and get a shot away. He was never the 'target man' that Mancini wanted him to be (indeed Tevez, with his little turns and constant hustle, is much better at holding the ball up).
