If it is true then whoever is negotiating these deals needs sacked. It's rather simple spurs if you can't afford the player and his wages don't bother wasting time making bids for them

Why don't you send in your CV? A man with your skills at the negotiating table is obviously just whats needed instead of the muppets we have to make do with.......

FantasyIreland, unfortunately I have the same sentiments as Dj1979...
We know Ade is worth 15mil. Spurs fans know Ade is worth 15mil. The whole world knows Ade is worth 15mil at least, except the guy(s) negotiating for City. When these transfer talks began at the end of last season, I was grumbling but grudgingly accepting of the offer of 8mil for him, seeing as we are desperate to get rid of him. But 5mil AND subsidizing his wages surely is taking the piss?!?! I'd rather Ade going for free next season than being duped by hawks like Daniel Levy..
The Spurs fans are creaming themselves on the forums that they have already got the bargain of the season..I really really hope that Duncan Castles got his figures wrong..

Glad you agree can i use you as a reference?

Seriously though nobody can tell me that selling adebayor for 5 mil 3 years after we bought him for 25 mil bearing in mind he has been on loan for 18 months of those 3 years which we then paid the majority of his wages and then pay him another 6.24 mil when he is no longer our player is good negotiating on our part. I can accept the 5 mil part unwillingly to get his wage off the payrole.

or as a role play of the deal if i was a shopkeeper and you were a customer. If you came and bought a packet of sweets from me for 70p but you said they weren't the nicest sweets in the shop I as the shopkeeper would not expect to then pay you £1 just to eat the sweets you have just bought
We aren't though.

hopefully you are right if we sold him for 50p to somebody else or gave him away for free it still represents better value than the deal duncan castles say's we are getting

Yes but I shall only say it one more time, CASTLES IS FUCKING WRONG!

Re: Adebayor

I would imagine if we are letting him go for £5m then Spurs will have to pay a huge signing on bonus to make up for his loss in wages.

If that signing on bonus is £6.5m then Ade's value comes out at £11.5m, a bit low but semi-reasonable - only issue is City will only see £5m of it, the rest of it will go to Ade (and the taxman).

That's the reason I think we won't be subsidising his wages.

Do you seriously think the people the club employ will not be capable of negotiating the very best deal available to us and will subsequently act accordingly??

Come on mate......

That's exactly it mate.

In January we told Spurs they could buy him £12m (they had paid a loan fee of £2m already).

Spurs were happy to sign him for that amount (which in reality is £14m with the fee) but couldn't afford to buy him and match his current wage. City wrote off the loss in last years accounts and accepted 5-6m for him now, the missing 5-6m (from our valuation) being paid by SPurs in a large signing on fee to keep his wages within their structure.

So Spurs have in effect paid £14m to sign him, but City will only see 7-8m of it.

It is City's fault for giving him such large wages when he signed but back then, that was our MO as we had no CL football or the same prestige we now have.

Hopefully mate but i did put if at the start of my original post. I can't see us doing the deal that duncan castles reports we are but that deal is a very poor one if true

We can only react to the news/rumors that is brought before us mate, we will never know all the contract details for sure even after the deal is complete..
Lets hope DC is completely wrong on this..

"The whole world knows Ade is worth 15mil at least, except the guy(s) negotiating for City".

He is only worth as much as somebody is willing to pay, and the only person that does know that is the guy doing the negotiating. If we turned round and said we want 15 mill, he won't go anywhere because he will have to take a reduced wage.

They will have paid about £14m at any rate when he signs.
