We can't have it all ways with Adebayor.
It's pretty simple. He goes for a cheap price, but we get a huge wage off our books. If we want his 'full' value the buyer will have to be prepared to match his wages for the 2 remaining years of his contract. Not going to happen! He will just sit here al la Wayne Bridge.

We can only react to the news/rumors that is brought before us mate, we will never know all the contract details for sure even after the deal is complete..
Lets hope DC is completely wrong on this..

He is only worth as much as somebody is willing to pay, and the only person that does know that is the guy doing the negotiating. If we turned round and said we want 15 mill, he won't go anywhere because he will have to take a reduced wage.

They will have paid about £14m at any rate when he signs.

I know mate, but sincity seems to think that we can get 15m for him, and they will pay him the wages he's on now.

We are out of options because of only one club making a concrete offer, and because Ade is being too stubborn in his demands. The least I would have expected was to get that 8mil that the Spurs initially offered. If we can get some add-on clauses to his contract, then it would be ok, I guess..

You do realize that was a rant, don't you? But ask any Spurs fans how much he is worth, I doubt anyone will say 5mil..
It seems a lot of City fans undervalue our players, and overvalue others..I just don't get it..this is a business guys, just because our owners are rich doesn't mean we don't have to make a profit somewhere..

I read SWP's Back's post about how we would effectively get 7-8mil (5mil+2mil from the loan, if I understand him), and may that's how the deal is being justified, but I would be pissed off if after all that, we still have to subsidize this deal..hence my initial post..

With you all the way on that. Somebody mention Sahin for about £26mil somewhere in one of these threads and as much as I would like him he doesn't play much at Madrid £15 mil tops would get him especially if Madrid are interested in Modric. Better our £15 mil than pay him to sit on the bench or more likely just train if they do add to there midfield. I would imagine he would be open to offers at the same wage he is on now or only a slight increase if he had guarantees or regular football so no need to chuck ridiculous wages at him as well
