Manchester City will receive £5m from Tottenham for Emmanuel Adebayor. Understand that City will subsidise the player's wages. #MCFC #THFC

???

Actually I remember from Football manager that I sold a player but he had an offer for lower wage and I had pay the difference in wage until he had original contract with my team.

I got fired later, but it doesnt matter:), but it is not an unknown thing in football.

Spurs offer him 100k/week he is on 160k/week at City so we pay 60k/week until he has contract here that two years more from now. (it's an example.)

Can't see that happening somehow. We recieve 5 mil then pay 60 grand a week for 2 years which equals 6.24 million so in effect it cost us 1.24mil to sell him to spurs. I don't care what people say about the other 100 grand spurs are paying, if they sign him thats between him and them what he gets a week. they dicked us over last year with a loan deal when in my opinion he should have been made to stay after he turned down psg. We are already selling for 20 mil less than we bought him for so its an absolute disgrace if we bleed even more money to him just so he can get his way and go to the club of his choice

Good Luck to him. Think he fell seriously out of favour with Mancini. One of those players who will not accept a place in the squad

Great news -him and Kolo, that's £270k a week right there.

Get Tevez and Dzeko off and we are suddenly £600k a week better off before we bring anyone in and £50m in the transfer kitty.
Would be quite happy to see Adebayor go as he's a City player in name only whilst Kolo is a sub at best

However if Dzeko And Tevez go we would be a stupid move football wise. I don't believe we're in the business of selling our best players no matter how much money it makes us.
Are one if Dzeko/Tevez better than RVP? Mancini doesn't think so.

Re: Adebayor

I thought Spurs were going to pay him a one-time fee to compensate for his lower earnings? I'm sick of this subsidising wages bollocks, I hope Castles is wrong as it'll mean we still aren't completely free of Adebayor.

Could not agree more, surely it's going to set a scary precedent for future transfers. Take dzeko for instance if we were to sell him to milan which i hope we don't but for arguments sake they will probably try and swindle him for about 15 mil then whats to stop them saying they are trying to lower their wage bill which was the big reason for them trying to offload ibra so they can only offer 80 grand a week are we to be expected to pay the difference for 3 years or do the same with every player who fancies a change? Could you see spurs doing the same if we tried the same stunt for one of their players? If it is true then whoever is negotiating these deals needs sacked. It's rather simple spurs if you can't afford the player and his wages don't bother wasting time making bids for them

Re: Adebayor

We do want to get rid of Ade off our wage bill and so has put us in a weak position. Spurs took the opportunity to first bring him on loan then get him as cheaply as possible. It was Marwood and Hughes who brought Adebayor to our club on huge wages.

Why don't you send in your CV? A man with your skills at the negotiating table is obviously just whats needed instead of the muppets we have to make do with.......

Re: Adebayor

Castles has the wrong end of the stick as usual when it comes to City the rag bell end.

Glad you agree can i use you as a reference?

Seriously though nobody can tell me that selling adebayor for 5 mil 3 years after we bought him for 25 mil bearing in mind he has been on loan for 18 months of those 3 years which we then paid the majority of his wages and then pay him another 6.24 mil when he is no longer our player is good negotiating on our part. I can accept the 5 mil part unwillingly to get his wage off the payrole.

or as a role play of the deal if i was a shopkeeper and you were a customer. If you came and bought a packet of sweets from me for 70p but you said they weren't the nicest sweets in the shop I as the shopkeeper would not expect to then pay you £1 just to eat the sweets you have just bought

We aren't though.

Re: Adebayor

If we subsidise his earnings then will he be able to play against us? If he has a shocker against us then other teams could argue that he wasn't trying when he played against one of his paymasters.
