Re: Adebayor

With the deal hopefully being tied up this weekend he'll be able to have a full pre season, as opposed to last time around when he was training with the kids and Levy was waiting presumably to save on wages.

I think this deal is going to be one that a fair amount of collumn inches will be about, but the truth will be that no one in the press will really know the financial ins and outs of the deal but many will claim to.

Glad to see him come back though, I think he surprised many in that his perfomances didn't tail off half way through the season. I'd be lying if I denied any less enthuastic performances but for the most part he was a quality striker, 18 goals 12 assists and that figure is without the 3 or 4 goals which were wrongly ruled out for being offside, when clearly 2 or 3 metres on. Getting in a striker like that for a deal which I'd estimate would come out to 10m or so is good business, and hopefully his form will continue.

Defintiely need another striker though, even if we don't sell Defoe.

Re: Adebayor

Very small fee. They sold that old and slow ex-City Corluka for 4- 5m pound to a Russian club! And from that money they can buy a top striker with great experience in the league. Even if his wage is high, we should ask more for him.

Can see Tottenham selling him, or Adebayor will want out if no CL footie for 1-2 years, but they will sell him for 10m or more making a profit.

Anyone we hired to clear the deadwoods should be fired first. Sending Bridge on loan probably paying his wage, cant see RSC generating any income fee, Kolo Toure leaves maybe but nowhere near the quoted 6m punds maybe it will be 3 m and not pounds but €.

Think we are going to have to take a big hit on the chin for players like Ade RSC and Bridge (if he ever sold )

Bridge has gone effectively. Season long loan in last year of contract.

We must have been looking to reduce the wage bill because the quoted fee of £6m is really low for a guy of Adebayor's ability with 2 years left on his contract. Even when you consider amortisation of his £25m cost to us, we're still making a £4m loss on the fee. If Spurs have managed to negotiate a substantially lower wage with Adebayor then they've got themselves a really good deal there. Until he stops performing of course......

Provision for an exceptional charge to the accounts in 2010/11 to cover 'impairment in the value of player registrations'. In other words, we considered that players had a financial book value that was vastly in excess of what it would be realistic for us to hope to receive should we seek to realise the player registrations (i.e. sell the players). I assume the players in question will have been Ade, Bridge and RSC, plus maybe Jo, Bellamy and one or two others.

That's a great point and one I'd forgotten about

Re: Adebayor

Ade is a good player for sure..................but only when he's in the mood!
We can't afford to retain players who only play 100% when it suits them.
Roberto is slowly but surely getting a squad of like minded players, team players.
The days of turning up and drawing your money without spilling sweat are gone forever at MCFC............
Hopefully the penny will drop with AJ

Manchester City will receive £5m from Tottenham for Emmanuel Adebayor. Understand that City will subsidise the player's wages. #MCFC #THFC

???

Actually I remember from Football manager that I sold a player but he had an offer for lower wage and I had pay the difference in wage until he had original contract with my team.

I got fired later, but it doesnt matter:), but it is not an unknown thing in football.

Spurs offer him 100k/week he is on 160k/week at City so we pay 60k/week until he has contract here that two years more from now. (it's an example.)

As I said before, a lot of sources are going to be saying a lot of different things about the deal. Pissing in the wind. I think the safest thing to assume is that the arrangement is one that satisfies both clubs and the player involved.
