Re: Adebayor

Nazri's character at City has been perfect. He works hard, gets on with his team mates & scored two of the most important goals to help win us the league. That's all that matters.

If he was a problem at Arsenal, it's hardly surprising. They are a bunch of con men fleecing their fans to pay for a stadium & selling their best players rather than getting them to sign new contracts.

Who in his right mind would be happy there ?

Re: Adebayor

Why wasn't he made to play in the friendlies against Oldham and Stockport like Santa Cruz was? If he is digging his heels in then we should make life as inconvenient as possible for him.

This is what pissed me off as well.

Spurs fined Modric every day he missed training to bring him back into line... we let Adebayor swan off to New York for a few days holidays while everyone else is training!

Let Adebayor know what the future will be if he refuses to go.

Training with the kids, playing for the reserves, his career coming to a dead stop for two years, the likelihood that he will never play at the top level again, that his worth will go from £170k a week to £30k a week...

Someone in charge at City needs to show balls in this situation and take charge of it. Bending over backwards the last couple of years with extra time off, a couple of loan deals at top clubs with no financial dcetriment to him... and still he doesn't want to play ball with us.

Time to take the velvet gloves off, like they did with Tevez. Worst case scenario, let him sit out the next two years ala' David Bentley. Remember him?

Hey guys, I was the author of the bitter and blue post that was briefly discussed.

Re Adebayor. He did some good things with Spurs last year, but he was their focal point of attack and their undisputed #1 striker-two things he will never be at City.

He played 2839 mins in the EPL, 3rd highest for a top striker, behind only Dempsey and RVP.

As for his missing chances, we can work this out.

We divide his shots on target by total shots, that gives us a number of how many chances he got on target (ie not ballooning them into row Z!) His number is 48%, I call this shooting efficiency.

That 48% number is the best in the entire league for a full term striker (Cisse slightly shades him, but he played 15 games all year).

How about goals scored from the number of shots taken. I use shots taken as data companies like OPTA and PROZONE use shots taken as a proxy for chances. Chance=shots

Adebayor scored 17% of his chances. 17 goals on 100 shots.

Aguero 17.6, Balo 15.8, Dzeko 15.2

Adebayors 17% chance conversion rate was 9th in the EPL. Yakubu was 1st, Grant Holt 2nd, Aguero 3rd, RVP 4th.

If Adebayor had a professional, team first attitude he would be ahead of Dzeko and probably Balotelli. He would have a league winners medal, but he doesn't and that is the price he pays for a less than stellar attitude

Well, you do have several of those kind of players in your ranks. Tevez and Nasri to begin with. Ballotelli, Adam Johnson? That's the problem you get when you just buy for the sake of buying. With Adebayor you agree that character matters, but with Nasri you don't. Double standards.

Re: Adebayor

Shame we can't re-sign Ben Thatcher to give him a 1:1 training session, if only to force the **** into retirement if we can't scare him into accepting reduced pay elsewhere.

Re: Adebayor

Shouldn't he be training with our reserves or something? I mean hell even RSC got on against Wolfsburg
