Afghanistan

As in terms of this shitshow happening on his watch then yeah he and his predecessor should be in the firing line. Then again somebody somewhere the the line was going to have to face the reality of the lie.

But then again we wouldn't have Bush and Blair without Carter/Reagan where does the blame game end up Carry on up the Khyber?

Very interesting narrative from Joe Glenton .... should be played to the 17.4 million who voted for Brexit and to all the flagshaggers who believe in British exceptionalism.

No doubt they'll be doing supply runs to the 'resistance'.

It's classic CIA - who is my enemy: Taliban, solution: arm the resistance.

Who is now my enemy: resistance, solution: arm the Taliban..
I don't remember there being much uproar when the CIA were arming and training the Mujahideen which ultimately helped oust the Soviet army from Afghanistan.

I don't remember there being much uproar when the CIA were arming and training the Mujahideen which drew the Soviet army into Afghanistan to protect the 'communist' government BEFORE they ultimately helped oust the Soviet army from Afghanistan.
Fixed.

I've seen a post about refugees on Facebook coming to Cheshire. A large proportion of the people complaining about this are middle aged 40-50 plus, then the people that care and want to help are more or less all under 30. I know our generation gets a lot of flak and rightly so well the ones growing up now anyway, I'm 32 but I do feel attitudes have massively improved. I cannot fathom wanting to leave people to die regardless of how many homeless we have in our country. Its the government's that cause homelessness not 10000 refugees. People are absolutely heartless and I feel the most vocal on the matter are people in the aged 40 plus bracket so there is hope for the future.

The US sent out an advisory yesterday asking all US citizens to clear Kabul Airport.

Sounds like they knew something was coming and this will be ISIS or similar.

The Afghan withdrawal has been nothing but a cluster fuck.

I support the US withdrawal from Afghanistan - as US continued presence serves little to advance USA interests.

Is this another case of a US president, making up his mind and then - through force of office - diminishing the credence of intelligence counter to his beliefs?

Like him or not, Obama seemed very deliberative in his policy making. Sure he had his own ideas - but he seems to have listed very closely to the opinions of others before setting out on a policy.

Biden, having made up his mind to withdraw - why set a firm date? Why not withdraw US citizens and deserving Afghanis early (in spite of the Afghan government's request not to do so?). Why not leave a substantial military presence in place in support of the withdrawal?
