Aguero banned for three games (updated)

Surprise, surprise. I'd imagine the ref will now be banned from refereeing other Prem games, as if he can't see what's directly in front of him, then he needs looking at.

didnt he send off the wrong player somewhere 'i think Arsenal' his eyes must be bad

But that's not their remit though is it? Their match report is supposed to be based on what they saw at the time, not what they saw later. Marriner clearly saw it and took no action. If that was due to simple misjudgment as to the severity of the incident, then that's just tough titty. Either way, it then falls to the FA to decide if the offence was so serious that that misjudgment needs to be reconsidered, not for the referee to read the Daily Mail's biased opinion and get the freeze frame going
The Costa challenge on that keeper on freeze-frame is horrific. How did he get away with that and yet Aguero got charged when the freeze frame shows no contact. Rhetorical question. I don't think the FA are bent, but the pressure on them and the way the system works is ridiculous. The system benefits one or two clubs to the detriment of one or two. We need to get this sorted out because it will keep happening.

Spot on mate. The press are all up Peggy's arse already. We just have to live with it. Hi mate by the way ,how you doing Steve, hope you're well. ;)

yeah good matey

looking good this season and hope is that we can stay injury free with key players but you have to laugh at united they are running scared already and its only the 4th game and they are looking for help in the media to get a help hand in a derby i truly think that we are 3 players better than them and that's without the new signings still to play will we miss aguero yes but i think we can hurt them but its down to the ref and i feel they will have him in there pocket

It's because they would have seen the 'incident' but not the 'intent' (or even just the elbow). If the ref sees the elbow clearly then he will absolutely give Aguero the red card. We have benefitted here, not been punished. It's Aguero who deserves the shit.

If Diego Costa, Phil Bardsley and all the other players who have committed unpunished red card offences this season, had endured identical media scrutiny and retrospective action, then you could argue we'd benefitted (although even that's contentious). However, the only player so punished this season is, surprise, surprise, Sergio Aguero, so I'm afraid it's a case of benefitted my fucking arse!

Exactly

It's impossible to tell intent in slow motion too.

Probably the wrong word intent. But for example if a ref sees a coming together of two players but does not view a elbow being thrusted does that mean he has seen the incident???

Similarly if the ref reviews an incident and sees a player looking at the opposing player and then pushes an arm out two situations could be viewed very differently. I am not sure what constitutes seeing an incident.

Tv only show 2 dimensional so its not 100% accurate.

Thats the thing Exeter I am not sure.

Do the FA say to the ref did you see the challenge or do they ask the ref if he saw the elbow? I honestly dont know the answer.

I can see us needing a new definition of a word every other week at this rate. This week the question is 'what does seeing mean'?

He fuckin saw it.
