AJ not cutting it?

My biggest disappointment with Johnson is the fact that he not improved. He is the same as when he arrived, playing alongside the talent we have should raise anyones game, but Adam seems to have stayed in the same place as when he arrived. I read on another Adam Johnson thread some time ago that he had the attitude of "I have arrived, I am premiership player" and thought that was it.
Sad to say, it is looking a bit like that to me now as well, which is a shame as I thought he could be a very special player.

People need a wake up call when it comes to AJ.

I like the guy, but he is sooooo fucking one-dimensional, it's really getting on my nerves.

Has a nice shot, and burst of speed - and that's it.

Poor vision, poor decision making, dissapears more often than not, his crossing is shit (cant hit the water if he was crossing off a boat), but above all soooooo.....P.R.E.D.I.C.T.A.B.L.E

Take the ball - fake going sideline - cut in (run into defender I might add).

Every. Single. Time.

Just not good enough.

AJ is not impressing....does not really go past players like he was doing

Not sure what else he adds

He could have won the match yesterday before Joleoninho got into the act. He is the sort of player that terrifies defenders. He is the sort, like Mario, who can pull a goal out of nowt. He adds a different dimension to the team and provides something that no one else in the squad appears capable of doing!

I really don't like knocking our own players and give them a lot more slack than most on here so it really does pain me to say that I whole heartedly agree

You watch him for the full 90 (or however minutes he plays) and I'm always left with a huge feeling of disappointment. Take today, I can think of only two moments that represented real quality, the shot that hit the post and the dribble into the box that he cut back to Silva. The rest of it was the usual mixed bag or over run attempts at dribbling and underhit passes. His workrate doesn't seem to be anywhere near the level of his teammates and I can fully understand why Roberto is sometimes left tearing his hair out

I still maintain that he is more an impact player against a really tiring FB in the last 30 of a game when we are looking for the kill.

What also frustrates me are all the people that see the highlights and then slag Mancini off for not giving him more minutes, if only they saw the rest of his game

More than anyone else in our team he can individually make a goal from nothing and whilst he does not contribute enough and can improve I always think he has got a cut in and long range goal in him. Nearly did it yesterday again. We also need English players in the squad

AJ and Milner were both out of sorts today, AJ had lead boots and both gave the ball away numerous times with poor passes. AJ looks incapable of getting up a head of steam, just watch him when he tries to sprint, it looks a real effort and uncomfortable....?!

That's how I feel really. I very rarely grumble about our players. I am actually extremely supportive of our players and think many of them get wholly undeserved flack (Joleon and Samir especially). I like Adam, ideally I would like him to remain a City player, but we don't live in an ideal world and I have seen enough of him now to judge how good he is and I just don't think he's good enough. I feel a bit gutted to say that; well, why would I want to say that one of our own lads isn't good enough?

I almost didn't post this, for various reasons (one being you're not allowed to have negative views on City in many Bluemooners eyes; another because I thought "what if Adam read this"). But I think the discussion needs having and its interesting to see other Blues views on it.

I feel Adam is probably a steady top half of the Prem player but I don't think he's good enough to have a career at a title challenging club. Some might think that's very harsh but look at this this way; he's in the fairly top percentages of players in England, 95% aren't as good as him, if I was Adam I'd be happy with that. But as far as having a career at City, well, as bad as it sounds, I just don't think he's got it.

Sorry if that doesn't fit in with the "we could still have Jamie Pollock" or "remember York away" posters, but it's just the way I feel.

Glad someone else noticed that Milners game was way below par. I kept watching him when he had the ball and our attacks broke down everytime he touched it. I was expecting him to be changed at halftime but no he stayed there. I also thought the line up was wrong from the off. Would have liked to have seen Pizarro given sometime . Kolorov, same old self, hopping on to one leg and passing back or square, never goes past his man and defensively poor.Glad the Toure,s are back though they will need a rest.
