It looks like Mancini is trying to turn him into a more central midfielder, like Nasri/Silva. Did not look to want to change the shape when bringing AJ on in the last third of the season. But even before that, AJ hasn't looked like he could beat a man for the majority of last season.
Looks like he has lost pace to me, even when played wide early on in the season.
More chance of him leaving than staying, but could be deadly if a manager gets him to settle down/work hard/realise his potential.
