Ajax Vs City CL Post Game Discussion Thread

I don't know whats going on with defense but it looks like the only way to win a game is to score 3 or more goals. I mean, when was the last time City won 1:0 ?

Everyone is arguing what striker to choose but the problem is not there. All four are world class strikers, no argue in that, but each one is different. They have their strengths and weaknesses but god damn they need a quality service and a good back up. Is there enough world class potential in midfield and defense? We don't have 4 Messi"s to make a solo run but even he depends on the rest of the team.

Its not about experience anymore. Ayax and Dortmund both have younger and inexperienced players... Most of the City players play for their national teams and had a past experience in Euro competitions...

No matter what you say, City plays shitty all the season, and if it wasn't for Dzeko"s late goals and some other individual performances, we would be in bottom half of the table.
I really hope Mancini knows what to do. Last time he said he knows where s the problem and that he ll fix it. I don't see any improvement, sorry...

Basically there's a casm in stature and quality between us and the teams we're trying to beat and there's nothing we can do to change that right now.

The likes of Milner, Lescott, Barry, Dzeko, Kolarov and Rodwell are not the type of players required to compete in the Champions League. I think Dzeko is the only player I've listed that could get in to Bayern Munich's team or Real Madrid's team. They're Premier League quality for sure but they cannot take us to the next level - they're the Bellamy, Given and Onuohas of this current set of players. We might love them dearly but we need another upgrade before we can have a good season in Europe.
Who from Ajaxs team would get into ours? Possibly Erikson and De jong at a push, their side included fucking Poulson and Babel ffs who were laughing stocks at Liverpool, our squad certainly isn't the finished article but we should still comfortably beat Ajax.

Mancini needs to wake up and smell the coffee, if he wants to last the season.

Yaya, great player on his day, but those days are getting rarer, as he ages his bursts will only be more scarce, lazy and ran rings around in mindfield, if we get a good offer we should sell. Barry has proved he is useless in europe especially next to Yaya, time to actually get some genuine CMs like Coutinho or dynamic DM like Paulinho.Mancini's reluctance to even consider the merits of wingers has left us with no outlet on the wings and made us impotent at counter-attacking and place higher burden on playing well to even stand a chance of getting points.

Mancini's poor record in European competition was his undoing at Inter and it will be here, his insidtence that there are no tactical evolutions to come in football seems silly and misplaced, particularly when he keeps playing 3 at the back against 4-3-3, it does n't work, that was found out years ago so stop doing it. Kompany seems no where near the level he was, it might be time to move him on as well. We broke new ground over the last 2 years, this team was great at times but now no ones playing well, they all seem like a spent force, maybe it is time to smash it up and start again, take the captaincy of VK, sell Mario and Edin buy a poacher like Jackson Martinez and a flair striker like Jovetic, get some width some genuine CMs, more runners and athletes, less Yaya and nasri types and get a solid no nonsense experienced CB who will comand his defence and strike fear into opponents. Some people said we should go back to playing like we did last season, the worrying thing is that does n't look possible; the solution is we either go all out to possesion football and abandon Barry and Yaya or we go to dynamism a high emphasis on pressing running counter attacking, no more static DMs, 4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1 rather than whatever that was tonight.

The only thing about Yaya is that he should have been taken off when he got that gash on his ankle. He IS our best player.

In fact, reading through your second paragraph, all I can see is ........... RAG?

We could of taken him off but who would we replace him with, George Evans was our only midfielder on the bench and we needed Milner on the wing for energy.

Yaya may be our best player, unless we play him forward, the game can pass him by and he only exposes his team mates limitations; Barry had a 74% pass accuracy FFS and two players that bossed a three man midfied in a title decider were totally out of their depth, simply because the opponents had energy and enthusiasm. I did n't think they could play in midfield 2 together because of this match in 2010-11.

They proved me wrong in the league, but in Europe they have been exposed and just don't seem up to the job. If Yaya plays in Europe it should be off the front, we need players capable of playing wide on the left, James Rodriguez, might be a good shout, because he has energy and can cross the ball.We also need to either control midfield or limit our opponent's effectiveness in that are of the pitch, we did neither and can't but think it is due to players who lack the athleticism, work rate and desire to press in that are of the pitch to the required level.

You can call me a Rag, but you can check my post history, last CL game I was looking on the positive side, but I can't after that performance, Mancini has three games to turn it around, if we don't qualify, we have to get a Europa League spot and we have to use that as way to develop a strategy for playing in Europe and playing away from home in Europe, otherwise we will never make a mark on either of the two competitions.

We're not going to win every game.

Kompany's confidence is shot to pieces, that's why he kept passing sideways instead of finding Barry and Nasri.

Yaya had an absolute shocker.

We're not out yet.

Would you prefer to go out in the group stage or the semis?

If we won the league and champs league double this year I fear I would lose the hunger.

All in all, I'm disappointed but just think about that Aguero goal - we're champions and the rags won fuck all.

No excuses tonight, that was a baby Ajax team. Everyone involved in that result should be ashamed of themselves. The players were a disgrace in the first half - no urgency, no tempo, no movement. The opposite of Ajax. Second half Mancini basically made a bad situation infinitely worse and dropped two enormous bollocks, one after the other.

Bye bye champions league. We need to focus on the PL now.

So you guys really think that it's not Mancini's problem?

He sure did win us premier league title, but if city wanna make accomplishment in CL he needs to go.

How many years you guys gonna give to Mancini to learn how to play CL before you guys lose patience and yell for firing him?

Bollocks fella, you need to improve the squad and we didnt which leaves us at a disadvantage in the world domination stakes

For what he's done so far he's got at least 2 trophy-less seasons for me and if we're consistently picking up Premier League titles and FA Cups then I'd say I'd only really be worried about the Champions League if we haven't reached at least a quarter final within 5 years and a final within 10.

I don't really understand the fuss. I'd rather lose Champions League games than Premier League games, we've got a chance of winning the Premier League but if anyone thinks we can consistently beat the likes of Bayern, Madrid, Barca, Juventus, etc just yet then they're kidding themselves.
With the defense they have. I doubt they can retain the title
They only got one clean sheet so far
Their performance was way below standard tonight
No form, no tactics
Mancini was out of ideas in the second half, so he just put in all forwards but sadly no mf could pass them that damn ball!!!

Should've used Nastasic instead
Kompany somehow is overrated

you can give him 5 years but i am not sure about Mansour

we desperately need a deep lying playmaker. joao moutinho would make as a far better team, we just seem to don't have any ideas when having the ball in the center of the pitch(ball back to vinny and lescott all the time) and maybe a good winger. also i might add yaya is really off form right now and that kompany is the man to take us forward in every competition those who say shit about him will eat their words(forget about progression in c.l this year it's just nonsense to even talk about it). also barry and lescott are really overrated by our fans. oh and mancini is not the man for europe believe me. it was the same at inter when he won championships but couldn't get past the 16 in c.l, and then mourinho arrives and wins it in 2 seasons time. mourinho is the man to take us forward
