Alan Ball / Wonderwall song

Always preferred "Alan Ball is a football genius" a piss take on his managerial abilities
Think it was possibly Forest fans who started that as a pisstake, before we turned a corner, won a couple of games and Ball got MOTM. Club released t shirts of a ball and the slogan football genius IIRC.

I just found the last few lines now...

And all the runs that Kinky makes are winding
And all the goals that City score are blinding
There are many times that we would like to score again
But we don't know how
'Cos maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my Alan Ball

Is your addition lines 2 & 3 please?
This is how I remember it, it was sang seriously and with optimism… which is fucking funny looking back.

Yep, Forest fans at the city ground, taking the piss out of us as a dismal City side made Jason’Pineapple’ Lee look like peak Van Basten
We got our revenge a few years later by replacing Ball’s name with David Platt as we helped them along the road to their own personal oblivion

Maybe we should have got Liam Brady
But after all we got Allan Ball.
Should never ever have been our manager with his dreadful CV , but a friend of Franny's. Looking back on those days makes it insane to moan now.

Does anyone remember the game away to Stewk at the Victoria Ground when all of the crowd (both sets of fans) sang "Alan Ball's a Wanker" ?
Not sure if the next verse was "He wears a Wanker's Hat", as he always wore a flat cap when at City.
Although he was the City manager, he had previously managed Stewk.
I was in with the Stewk fans as couldn't get an away ticket, but it must have been humiliating for The World Cup Winner...

Yes. That was his last game I think.
