Alan Hansen

To comfortably hold down a place in that Liverpool team in the late 70s/early 80s was no mean feat. They were an awesome side. Way better than Bingo's mob. I can't fathom how people reckon the current team are the best dippers XI of all time.
Imagine Hansen on today's pitches.

Would walk into City's current team.

Also, for our younger viewers, Mark Lawrenson wasn't far behind either!

Best wishes to Alan on a full recovery.

A Rolls Royce of a player. Always composed on the ball, never flustered and confident bringing it out from the back. Surprised to see he was only capped 26 times for Scotland (I think there was a push to play Miller/McLeish ahead of the Anglo Scots like Hansen during his peak years). A good pundit who did usher in the era of ex Liverpool players dominating the punditry panel, however one can only wish him a full and speedy recovery.

Yeah; I think even most Scots couldn't understand how the likes of McLeish and Miller got in ahead of Hansen. It certainly wasn't on footballing ability.

This present lot can't hold a candle to the great Liverpool sides of the 70s and 80s, Alan Hansen was a fantastic players, best wishes to him and his family, hope he recovers fully and is back on the golf course soon.
