Alan Sugar

It is nothing like that. Those people are not migrants, and are not seeking a living in that way at all. They have fled countries that are fucked, Sierra Leone is one such place that they come from; it is a place ruined by years of civil war and brutality. They wither made their own way to the continent and are now out of ideas, or they paid what are no more than crime gangs to assist them in making the journey to the continent; often Eastern European, Turkish or Middle Eastern people traffickers. Once in Spain they are made to live in multi occupancy shitholes, scores of them living next to eachother and sleeping on the floor, and forced to go out and sell handbags and sunglasses to pay for their 'board and lodge' if you can call it that, and told it is to help repay the cost of helping them into the continent. Of course they will never ever be out of that servitude. Their wives and partners are made to prostitute themselves out by lurking around around bars in the early hours of the morning to entice drunk tourists with a blow job.
they are absolutely not seeking a living in the way you describe and you have fundamentally misunderstood what is happening here.
Alan Sugar is a **** for describing them as 'resourceful chaps' or whatever ridiculously ignorant term he used.
They are trapped in modern slavery. And that is why it is offensive and that is why it is racist.
Except that this is not a picture of refugees, it is a football team. Nice shoehorn.

A little off topic but there is a clear pattern emerging from certain posters on this, the Brexit and Trump threads.

I won't call them names (this time) but their views are abhorrent to me and I suspect many others.

That's because you're so fucking awesome mate; an example to us all.

(Equally off topic, word of the day - sanctimonious - adjective - 'making a show of being morally superior').

Second thoughts. I might change my opinion if someone can explain the sunglasses. Are they referring to their compatriot migrants? Are they stereotyping their collegues? Are they advertising? What?

Um, you do realise that the picture was photoshopped right?!
If that is the case, who published it? How do you know? Why did the Guardian, which covered the row extensively not mention the provenence of the picture? Is it suggested that Sugar photoshopped it? Or did he just find it? As i said, am willing to change my mind, but all those pointing fingers seem to be very short on facts, which is why i am suspicious of their motives.

I thought it was so obviously photoshopped that it went without saying. It's even cut off in the picture. No idea where it came from, but I am staggered anyone thought they'd take sunglasses and handbags out on the pitchside.

Direct (and incredibly needless) lift from the Grauniad:
Alan Sugar has been criticised for posting a tweet about the Senegal World Cup squad that compared the players to people selling sunglasses and handbags on beaches.

The tweet featured a photoshopped picture of the team looking as though they were selling counterfeit goods. “I recognise some of these guys from the beach in Marbella. Multitasking, resourceful chaps,” Lord Sugar said.

You are missing the point. Alan Sugar is directly likening them, not me.
See my post above in reply to Ric. What, exactly, is Sugar commenting on? A found picture or a Football team or a set of refugees. Me, i think it was just a pillock tossing off a crap joke with no thought at all. (Cf Trump) Had he been critcised for that, fair enough, but those critics calling "racist" are as bad as he is. That is my point. Its like those people in our NHS thread calling people "Nazi" who do not worship at the throne of that God.
