Albert Rusnak

It does make me question the quality in Holland though.

The fact is Guidetti and Rekik were both very successful there, the early signs are that Rusnak will be too, however, currently, all three would struggle to make a premiership bench.
Rekik didn't have a good season with PSV. He played well for the first 2 months as did the whole team but they were very poor for the rest of the season.

Guidetti did great but hasn't played any football in the last 2 seasons. Even in his prime he would only be 4th choice striker at best. He was never going to be good enough for City.

true, but for all the notorious bad buys from the Eredivisie there have always been good players coming out of there, often though they just tend to not be ready for a move straight to England, Eriksen spent several seasons there and took a while to settle in at Spurs but is showing his class, and there are players even from the summer who showed they have something about them.

Will Rusnak make it here? I seriously doubt it, but with good loans in Europe his value goes up which only helps. I'd be tempted to give Rekik a 2nd season at PSV if they want him, as I think the continuity would benefit him.

Sky Sports understands a host of clubs are keeping tabs on Manchester City youngster Albert Rusnak during his loan spell in Holland.

Rusnak is currently on loan at Erevisie side Cambuur Leeuwarden until January and he has been earning reviews at the Dutch club.

The attacking midfielder has scored one goal in four games and picked up two man of the match awards as well as being named in the Eredivisie Team of the Week twice already during his first few weeks with Cambuur.

Cambuur are keen to extend his loan stay and even make the move permanent with Rusnak establishing himself as a key player at the club.

Rusnak's performances have now alerted most of Holland's bigger clubs, while several Premier League sides are actively monitoring the 20-year-old's progress.

The Slovakian's contract at City is due to expire at the end of the season and they are considering offering him a new deal as they look to avoid losing him for nothing next summer

Rusnak is a talented footballer, but City first team potential ? Probably not. He has turned in some very decent performances at City, but doesn't appear to have that bit 'extra'. I imagine we will let him go. But it's not an exact science predicting how players mature. We will undoubtably get one or two wrong. But there are others coming through all the time & they all need to progress.

Pretty much ALL of City's young players from now on, will have 'something' to offer. There are not going to be many mugs playing in City's academy, this is an elite system. The question is..which ones can offer something to our first team ? One or two could get in as 'squad' players, but on the whole we are looking for lads who are going to be as good as Silva, Aguero, Kompany etc, not Wellbecks, Evanses or Cleverleys. Most kids will leave.

We can't keep them all just hoping one or two suddenly develop. And performing well in the Dutch league just proves you have a chance of a career in football, it doesn't prove you have a potential future at City. So we will have to let players go, & some may shine elsewhere. We have to do the best for these kids though, which means helping their careers. Otherwise kids will not sign for us if they think we just keep them sat on their arses here, when other clubs will help them improve more quickly.

We will try to pick the absolute best for our squad & sell or release the rest, but the higher the overall standard at City, the better quality will be the players we have to let go. It could be that all of the players currently on loan end up leaving, or that one or two come back & end up stars at City. Too early to know. I'm very confident we will get a decent production line of players for our first team but it is only a small percentage out of every 500 or so.

But we have a LOT of talented kids, so a lot of talent will end up leaving. Some, we will regret, for sure. Can't be helped.

Rusnak could be one, or maybe not. Good luck to him, whatever happens.

Spot on regarding the Academy (and probably Rusnak too).

I think Fofana might be one that makes it with us and Devante Cole is also a candidate

Fofana certainly has the physicality, he's an absolute monster in his age range. Denayour is looking like a great possibility too although when is another matter.

The only thing at the moment he hasn't got is long passing
