Albert Rusnak

He is doing very well in Holland. 2 goals already with one today, and an average rating of 7.28 at WhoScored. City's dilemma is that his contract runs out next summer and he may have some value, hence the recent Sky Sports story that City are thinking of giving him a new contract. West Ham are apparently one of the clubs interested in him. His chances of making it here are probably close to non-existent unless his development goes into overdrive, but the club wouldn't be happy if he blossoms into a star of the Dutch league this season and they can't get a transfer fee for him next summer.

Difficult decision for him I suppose.

Hang on the outside chance of a career at City or just make a clean break.

I belive so, along with the club we picked him up from, but the fees are minor.

Has anyone an update on his progress? Ta

Cambuur are 4th, a very high position for a club with no money. And Rusnak is their second highest rated player on WhoScored, which isn't the be all and end all of football ratings but is generally good. He and another loanee have been called "gifts from heaven" in the Dutch press and a success of the scouting department. Rusnak apparently wants to stay on loan until the end of the season while City are in the tricky situation of how to deal with his future (contract expires next summer).

Cheers LC,i guess it is a tricky situation. While I doubt he'd ever challenge for a first team place with us,we don't want to let our academy products leave for next to nothing.

If he saw his contract out, would a development fee be due?

I don't know how it works, does it apply if the player goes abroad or just to an English club? City managed to get Huws to sign a new contract when his other one had expired (I think) then sold him, so they probably have their methods. Rusnak's value now has risen to about £500,000 according to the market site Transfermarkt, maybe that's an idea of how much we could get for him if he was under contract. Or more if he ends up having a great season.

I'm sure Rusnak would sign a contract, purely with selling him in mind,if the club gave him a butty......or maybe we don't and, come January,we allow him to leave with the agreement of a large sell on fee?

@City_Watch seriously, this Rusnak guy from your academy is sensational. Bagged two assists today for Cambuur against rivals Heerenveen.
