Alcohol, hints, tips, advice etc.

I’m at home on a Saturday night which is largely unheard of for me. Possibly the first time since lockdown was lifted (save hospital last year!) Even if it’s just a local, I’m usually out.

A combination of Swansea tomorrow, boxing on Sky Sports and just not enjoying nights out in dead pubs has led to this. Now I know I can do it then it’s going to become far more regular.

My favourite time of the week is being in my home all Saturday night, with my partner next to me 2 cats doing there thing, a decent meal and shit on the TV. No booze, some sparkling water and maybe some snacks and it's peaceful and serene.

So after 2 months completely sober I had a drink but it was planned by me and the wife to see if I could reintroduce alcohol in to my l8fe with out falling off a cliff.

It was okay apart from feeling completely drunk off 2 drinks I was able to not carry on in to oblivion and the craving the next day wasn't there.

I will drink again but it requires control. The old me who was at the very bottom mentally and had no control is now gone and with my family now aware they can help me
It's the creep that you need to be wary of. I know I could have 2 beers tonight, then nothing until next week and have 2 more then, then it might be 3 the following week and 2 the day after, then 2 nights with 3 drinks becomes a drink in the week, then 3 drinks becomes 4 with another day added etc etc

That's me ,it's nothing for me as I would 100% end up down this path

I got up at 6:30am, freshened up and had a healthy breakfast. Almost unheard of on a Sunday.

There’s been too many not rights out recently so staying in is beginning to have its benefits.

Day 63 for me.
Just got up ,coffee.
And bloody 8 hours of shite at work to come.
With the money you are saving from not drinking would you be able to work less hours or get a job that suits you better with less pay?

I know it’s a difficult balance but spending far too much time at work in a job that’s unfulfilling is counter productive on your actual work and social life.

Working weekends and shifts suits some people but I found the proverbial Mon - Fri work with a nice weekend to look forward to is far better for the soul. I even did this in my last 10 years whilst self employed, did the odd bit of weekend work as the Customer is King but generally nada after around Friday 5pm.

Wise words, it’s great to have the weekend off and something to look forward to
