What percentage of Tory voters do you think are so remain they would defect to the lib dems?

Are you kidding? There are probably around 30 Tory MPs who wouldn’t vote for this mob let alone soft remain Tory voters. May made the same mistake in 2017 in tacking toward Brexit voters in Labour areas and leaving the soft remain vote exposed. Hell some of them voted Labour let alone LibDem.
 
I’m missing something here, why would Johnson call an election? I think he’d probably win with a minority government(like the current situation) but it seems a huge risk with very little upside, from his perspective. Unless he wants out already, of course......

He needs to change the arithmetic of parliament.

He will roll the dice on a GE as its the only way of doing it.

At least after the next one Corbyn will be gone for good and we can (hopefully) get a decent leader of the Labour Party that brings it into the 21st century
