Proper fluff piece from Laura K this morning, what a sad state of affair when the national broadcasters chief political journalist isn't interested in doig her job and exposing wrongdoing and critical analysis, but rather making excuses for and pandering to this fool

Though I find it hilarious the johnson cultists and tory fandom are slagging this off (wothpit reading it probably) becquse as it's a beeb article they automatically thinks it's some marxist piece ,;-)

I didn't think it was a bad piece. It pretty much says he is chaotic and ignores awkward truths deliberately, that he was put in because his style of waffle and illusion plays well to the public despite it being twisted into incomprehensibility.

It also says he's desperate for cash, and his power comes from the chaotic mess which others can't pick through while he just puts on his blinkers and ignores what he doesn't want.

It's not a flattering portrait.

It is such soft criticism.

He is a serial liar and chancer, a bullshitting **** unfit for high office.

She frames it like, oh well , you know he just isn't comfortable with some stuff so we can let him off that, he just want to be loved...fuck off

Terrible for a political journalist to try to frame it as just boris being boris, unflattering it may be, but still he is portrayed as harmless something he ain't.

But that is the general state we are at, people just shrug no matter what bollocks is going on.

Bercow on "Broadcasting House" - Liar Johnson has "an insouciant and flippant disregard for the truth" but still avoiding saying Johnson is a liar. Must still want the peerage.

Actually, it's a fairly excoriating attack on Johnson's lies.

It's like writing about her mate that has been found robbing but you still can't bring yourself to call him a thief.

This line is beyond bizarre
"Mr Johnson's former colleague told me: "Is there wilful lying? I would struggle to point to a direct example. Does he recreate the truth to suit him? Yes."

Her style of journalism I find annoying, as it is always "sources close to Dominic Cummings say he acted appropriately", followed by her repeating the individuals defence for them like a spokesperson.

Apathy is a killer because those that are not apathetic tend to be older and there is a huge swing towards conservatism as the voting age increases. To be apathetic at this time is a tragedy because the country is suffering badly. One wonders if somebody who is currently apathetic will ever be interested in making a change.
As people become older they become more conservative with a small C rather than ideologically Conservative.

As i get older I am becoming more left wing, certainly less liberal (although I have never been that liberal anyway) and maybe more socially conservative.

If such a person does appear, they have a mountain to climb, because everything is stacked against them.

As do I. It is also true though that there is a huge swing towards voting for the Conservative party, as age increases. Of course, in the referendum, the vote to leave hugely increased with age. Unfortunately, it is young people who will suffer from it, for generations.

We are all going to suffer from the fall out of brexit. Young people will be suffering for longer because they have more years ahead of them.

It's interesting that the generation that fought in the last world war and voted in the referendum voted remain. An altruistic generation that appreciates the community spirit of the EU, rather than seeing it as a business arrangement supposedly costing us billions every year and being told what to do by a fictional belief in unelected eurocrats with nothing in return.

The generation that fought in the war? They had to be in their 90s to have voted in the referendum. I'm not sure what motivated those who think they fought in the war to vote Leave. Well, I think I do and it's not nice.

He never fucking learns, to be giving people hope again before we see where we are next month

Boris Johnson has said there is a "good chance" the one-metre plus social distancing rule can be scrapped from 21 June.

During a campaign visit in Hartlepool, the prime minister told reporters: "I think we've got a good chance, a good chance, of being able to dispense with one-metre plus."

He stressed the move would be "dependent on the data" and "we can't say it categorically yet", but added: "That's what it feels like to me right now
