Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

What a poor response.

The UK will be separated in the next 5 years. The Brexit shambles has sealed the deal to that one. Once Scotland, and it will go, Wales will follow suit. But that's a discussion for another thread.

That in itself is enough to put your rather abysmal comparison in the grave. Maybe not a stake through its heart and garlic round its neck, however.

You only think it’s a poor response because you don’t agree.

How will the UK be broken up in the next 5 years Einstein, when we’ve got 4.5 years to go to a GE, with the government refusing point blank to have another referendum and the opposition having a policy of a referendum in their 2nd term only?

And to then blame it on a policy that didn’t last a term and was reversed 30 years ago is not only a stretch, it’s a fabrication.

No need mate, ask anyone who was around at the time why they voted for
her three times. You can include those three areas of the UK in the survey.
Well some in Scotland did in 1979 but:
'The 1979 general election in Scotland saw Labour emerge as the largest party with 44 of the 71 seats available, and 41.5% of the vote, up from 36.1% in 1974. The Conservatives ended up with 22 seats and 31.4% of the vote, compared with 24.7% in 1974. The SNP came third with 17.3% and only 2 MPs.'

Conservatives were second again to Labour in 1983 43 seats to 21. In 1987, Second with only 10 seats.

Maybe that drop of 22 to 10 seats was something to do with Poll Tax, Miners strike, the decimation of Scotland's manufacturing industry.....

The GE result (in which saw an SNP landslide) is mandate enough. If you think Johnson can continously refuse a state country its right for a referendum then you are mad. Not only would it greatly damage relations, it would get worldwide condemnation. Legally speaking, Scotland can declare our own vote and deal with the legal ramifications afterwards, which many are calling for. Sturgeon has made it clear that is not the route she wants to go, but if article 30 is continously refused, then being undemocratic, a motion can be passed in Scottish Parliament for a referendum.

And aye. I see that happening in 5 years time.

The UK is the state country, Scotland is a devolved nation.

The worst that will happen is further devolution and perhaps similar in Wales and regions of England.

No one wants to be the PM that oversaw the break up of the UK and we shouldn’t be having referendums every time the UK decides on something the Scots disagree with.

They voted 6 years ago for “once in a lifetime” opportunity.

Further devolution is beyond acceptable now I suspect. The latest poles show 55% opinion in favour of independence. Couple that with the older citizens (predominantly no voters) dying off and younger ones entering the fray (predominantly yes), this number will only continue to increase. "Once In a Lifetime" means absolutely nothing in regards to the legality of another referendum. The mandate has already been set in the GE which was an SNP landslide victory, with independence as the driving force.

Anyway, wrong thread for this. I also like the way Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's nostrils flare when shes angry. Pretty sexy lady!

Ahh the good old polls that must be always taken seriously. Polling is done to sway opinion not capture it, it’s often proven incorrect.

I never said “lifetime”, the SNP said it was “once in a generation” and no that doesn’t mean anything legally, but it’s enough for the Prime Minister to just keep saying “nah sorry, not been a generation yet”.

Scotland will have another vote once Brexit has been ran for a number of years, anything before then would be a total disgrace.

I definitely don’t know enough to wade into a debate about Scottish independence, but I know enough to know this statement is silly if not ridiculous, scientifically and economically.

You should have stopped at the first half of your sentence.

“Scientific or economically” - I mean, that’s laughable really.

This is dumb. You’re wrong. Among other things, I run business surveys for a living. I spend hours with consumer confidence surveys. I backward engineer other people’s work sometimes. Opinion polls have underlying statistical principles built into them that make them either useful or not useful. I know the difference; you don’t. Stop writing before you hurt yourself.
