Alexis Sanchez (round 2)

Just scored a good goal against Deportivo. Only his 2nd goal this season (if I'm correct) but at least he ended some goal scoring drought .

never understood why people think you only need 1 winger, what do we do on the other side of the pitch?

Pass?

Few wingers have the technical passing ability needed to break down attacks. It's tactically normal to have a winger on one side and playmaker on the other. With the fullback in the attacking midfielder/playmaker side pushed higher.

all the top clubs have 2 wingers whether they use them in that specific role or not every game is a different matter.

The middle ground is attacking midfielders with agility and pace like a Mata, Ozil or a Hazard and we have none of those either.

It's a valuable option and we're really lacking in that department and it shows, although we're a Jekyll and Hyde team at the moment anyway as only the cup team turns up with any drive, confidence and attacking fluidity, the league team especially away from home just looks devoid of anything at the moment.

It depends on the formation, doesn't it?
If you are thinking of 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1, we would need specialist wingers both left and right. With 4-2-3-1, the attacking three behind a striker need to be versatile, with the centre one of the three being the playmaker.

We can't give this guy another bite at the cherry, he turned us down before and it would just make a mockery of us as a club and our transfer policy if we were to offer him an olive branch now. we can't allow players like this to walk all over us and come crawling back once their 'big' move doesn't work, makes us feel like second best.

Given the choice between City and Barca, I would think pretty much every footballer would choose the latter, unless they were a Blue. It was hardly an unforgivable act.

good player but this ship has sailed.
This, not to mention I have a strong inkling he's gonna go to juve where he'll fit in very well

fancy pants, midget version of Nani, but more selfish.

No thanks.

The future is superbly athletic and fast wingers like Bale, Ronaldo, Reus, Hamsik....that's what you need to go shopping for, not a masterclass on how to step over the ball on the halfway line, before being fouled.
